I've done that a few times just never hit anything.

Im still trying to figure out exactly what caused him to do that. Since you say you've done that, what was it that made you do that? Was it just giving it too much throttle or the surprise of having to stopp too suddenly?

It looked like he couldn't see around the cars in the right lane, thought that a third lane was added and went to pass. By the time he realized it wasn't a lane but an off-ramp with stopped traffic, he locked 'em up (front tire smoking first) and slid into that car.

That's my theory. I've shed my fair share of smoke too and luckily never had an incident like that.

Gen 2 vipers are becoming more rare. sad :crazy2: but true. And also more valuable, if not today, tomorrow :cash:.:usa::us:

I hope everyone was ok, and the insurance covered all of damage.

Eyes may not have adjusted or glare too when coming out of the tunnel.

Bruce

I Agree... The camera couldn't see much past 1 car length outside the tunnel either - changed lanes and got hit with the glare at the same time... hope everyone was okay and I feel awful for the car! I don't leave home without my polarized Oakleys!

Definately agree! this is what happens to agressive folks when they autocross urban traffic, I see this in Southern CA on a regular basis.

Ouch. That's too bad.

It didn't seem like he was doing 100 or anything, he mighta been better off with some pump action on the brakes rather than just go both-feet-in until he hit. Might not have been able to stop but would have slowed down a whole lot more. Perhaps he did but it seemed like the tire smoke was continuous.

It was uploaded yesterday. I've never seen it before on Streetfire or YouTube (and I've killed my fair share of time on both), so I'm guessing it's a new crash in an old car.

Also of note: Phones with video capabilities weren't that prevalent in the late 90s and early 00s (when new GTSs were around), so I'm gonna stick with the answer above.

good point. I was trying to get an idea of where that video was taken...and was thinking Europe or Asia...definitely not in the US...any guesses?
