Terrible VA and their terrible front plate law. I'd gladly pay a fee to not have to display it... I'd go without it, but for those not in the know, VA cops have nothing better to do than ticket people for insane things in Northern VA.

Though, the mounting bracket you have to drill into the fascia to get it to stick, I need to hit up home depot and get some supplies to jury rig something that requires no holes... So, it isn't attached for now.

Just leave it off, and if you do happen to get a ticket for no front LP, just think of that as the fee...

Ah...that's too bad Harold! It's illegal here too but I do it anyways! The only time I've been stopped by a cop was to admire my car...and once to warn me about an upcoming blitz on license plate infractions !! LOL!
Your car STILL looks great!

There hasn't been had a front plate on my Viper in Fairfax County since 1999. Never been an issue.

Use your trip to Home Depot for some **** killer for your driveway.

I will un-ruin your car. If you get pulled over, just play dumb and say "what missing license plate, it was there this morning"

Regardless, your car looks great with or without the plate!!

Someone makes a front license plate bracket for the Gen2....it attaches to the front bumper without drilling holes & is easily removed .....don't know about the other Gen's....

The front plate law is pure BULL$HIT. I get hit about once every other year. I go home, zip tie it to the front, take a pic with it on the car, take the digital camera to the courthouse and show the clerk. Ticket gone. Then I go home and REMOVE the plate until the next time.

Worse than the front plate, they put your inspection sticker on crooked. That would drive me nuts.

I actually made the inspector replace mine one year when he did that.

LOL. Damned VA.

Yeah, such a scam. I love you pay registration tax on top of gas guzzler. Taxing a tax, what a fantastic scam.

I guess I'll see how long I can go without a ticket... Maybe.

Yeah, just back from vacation, lots of yard work to be done. All the rain has ruined my sod. Ugh.

I don't know how you've managed that long in NoVA. Maybe they are more worried about HOV violators than a $50 plate ticket.

Thoreau said it best: Civil Disobedience. Given the phenomenal lack of character & leadership in the White House these days, your license plate guilt is pretty tame by comparison. Besides, asking for forgiveness is always easier than asking for permission.

What I would do if there isn't an aftermarket solution in the making like for the Gen 2, is keep the plate and mounting bracket in the car. Get some cheap double stick tape from Autozone and put it on there, stick it to something and then tear it off so it looks like it had been mounted. If pulled over, just say that you tried putiing it on with tape; but it fell off and you are trying to figure out how to mount it without drilling holes.

And, if you really need to mount it , use the same tape that they use to hold GoPro mounts on. That stuff sticks REALLY well. ( 3M VHB 4991)

I've been stopped 3 times here in West Texas. Warning tickets each time.

After 5, I get a ticket.

Told one cop, just let me go and if I get a ticket for a REAL traffic violation, just write me two tickets!!

Try google for a "show and go" remote control motorized license plate. My plate is always hidden but if I did get pulled over the remote is on my key fob and the plate is showing in 3to4 seconds so by the time you are stopped, the plate is showing and the police are scratching their heads thinking they are going crazy!

Currently in Texas it is still law that you have a front plate, but due to someone "screwing up" the legal wording last legislature there is NO penalty for not having the plate on.

Previously in Texas if you got a ticket for this, all you had to do was snap one on temporarily and show the judge/bailiff and the fine is reduced to $10. I have never pulled over in Texas for no front plate, but have been given one as an add on for officer funsies.

I've been pulled over 3 times in 15 years with warnings each time. Two of those times were from State Police who generally don't cut much slack. Honestly I think they just wanted to check the car out. I'm pretty much like some of the others on here in that there will be no front plate on my car until they absolutely force me to. Stupid law....

Screw that. I'd rather pay a ticket every week before putting that wart on the nose of my car. We are supposed to have them in TX too, but I only put them on my trucks.

That is disappointing to hear. At the last VOI we (Viper owners) were solicited for last minute ideas on the Gen V. I spoke with Graham Henckel (Head of Viper Engineering) and we exchanged a few emails about front plate brackets. I lobbied heavily for a front plate bracket that did not require holes to be drilled into the car. New Hampshire also requires a front plate. I guess they could not get it done for some reason. :(
