No work today so I worked on the viper. I was recently at VOI9 and with all the driving and the temps in Vegas, I was hot too much of the time. I saw DC performances vents at the vendor show, but the viper tax was too high. I got some premium stainless steel mesh and cut out a portion of the resin side piece. Took all of 40 min per side including removing the side sills. Not the cleanest job, but I think it looks good and will help keep temps down. The side sill insulation is in tough shape with the metal portion by the cats has vaporized. I may need to replace it soon.

New vents

I also had a front vent kit from Roe that I had been meaning to install for quite some time and I finaly got around to all the cutting and riviting. Once I started the install it became very clear why this can lower the temps. There should be a ton more air flowing through the various radiators.

It looks reasonably clean from underneath.

You can hardly tell from the front, even at a low angle.

Can't wait for more track time!

Vents are not needed in the rear. The back of the sills are wide open and direct the air under the car. I have the contact info for the wire mesh company on another computer. It was from a CA company. They typicaly sell a min of 12 sq ft at $6.25/ sq ft. They do sell samples that are 6"x6" for $8.00. I just bought two of the samples and trimmed as needed. I'll post the info when I am back in the states.

>>>Isn't there an issue with water entry? <<<

In another thread here the Wizard wrote that by letting water during rain into the side sills ONTO HOT CATs will destroy them ... perhaps he can chime in.

O1 RT Snake,
That is the company I ordered from. I ordered two "samples" at $8.00 each. Took a week or so to get. It cut prettey easily with tin snips and was secured with small pop rivets.

I have not been too woried about rain on the hot cats (San Diego has very litte rain. When I had the side sills off, the exhaust was pretty rusty but still has another 35,000 miles in it.
