Just opened both ends. BIG reduction of heat. I am(someday) going to rivet in some grill material to keep "stuff" out. But, so far, there has been no "stuff" going in, so I'm not in a big hurry.

Could you put up a couple of pics showing what you have done, thanks.

Fine for a modded car but if you have an aversion to cutting up your car you can get air in there from underneath. Use ram air deflected along the flex pipe route. Plenty of opening in the rear already for air exit. Also will need to space the internal insulation off the cats. Airflow olny helps if it can flow freely within the sills.

Never use louvers on < 99 MY as side sill insulation was not metal wrapped. Bare fiber sided insulation glued to the inner sill get wet, hold moisture and then corrode the sill from within. Later cars has fully metal wrapped insulation eliminating this problem.

Ok, can you put up pics of the ram air mod please.

I used the raw grille and it looks GREAT on my silver/blue '98 GTS. I cut a square opening in the front of the side sill and riveted the vents into place. No paint needed on the silver car. I was told that those who painted theirs had to re-paint them due to rock chipping. WAY too expensive for goofy little vents, but they look great and work good.

Both ends of the sills have a riveted in panel. Get some stainless screen from Home Depot or Lowes, Remove the factory end panels, cut screen to fit, rivet it in on both ends. Need fine screen so doesn't fill with small rocks. Only thing is water gets in there then when you stop the heat evaporates the water and fogs windows Big time.

URGENT NOTE:

YEARS ago we discovered that opening the sills WIDE definitely cools the sills, and even allows for convection cooling while the car is stationary.

HOWEVER: If you DONT have mesh screen, the front tires do throw FLAMABLE debris into the sill! Leaves and tire-turds (marbles) will smoulder, stink, and even burn. ADD THE SCREENS !!!

P.S. While Im talking about FIRE SAFETY: DO NOT USE A FLEXIBLE INCANDESCENT BULB OR HALOGEN BULB SHOP LIGHT NEAR FUEL FUMES! A guy here in another club was badly burned while BEING OTHERWISE CAREFUL when fuel fumes were ignited by his shop lite.
