About four times over the last year my 96 RT has experienced a split second lurch while driving that seemed as if the engine suddenly died then came back. This evening it occurred three times in less than a half hour. Twice while driving, sudden lurch as if "hiccuping", then back to normal. The third and last time was at a stoplight. The car was idling about 500 rpm then suddenly it just stopped. Electrical seemed ok, all lights stayed on, dont recall if the radio died. I immediately turned the ignition and it started right up, idled at 1500 rpm about 15 seconds then fell to 500 rpm. It drove fine otherwise.
Any ideas before I hit the ole service manual??

Could be a lot of things:

1) Cables (Above)
2) Bad gas
3) Error code working itself out
4) Weak battery
5) Bad plugs/wires
6) Vapor lock

Host of other things...... go down the list and see if you can resolve the issues. You can always reset the computer by pulling the battery cable. See if you can get the error codes first before you do that.

Battery can be the culprit as if it isn't at top voltage, it can fool the idle sensor and ****! poor idle, stalling, etc.

I'd have a tech check it out.
