this combo sounds like a good upgrade for serious NA power. Id like to hear form any who have done it to gain some input, opinions and knowledge, before i blindly leap into it. pros/cons, reliability, drivability, etc. oh, and of course expected HP/TRQ gains

Heads and cam are good for 520 - 540 rwhp area. I don't see any drawbacks with a good combo. Don't shave the heads too much, the compression gain is not worth it and you could detonate. I would prefer the heads cam package over a low boost sc system that removes timing. Removing timing may be a good way to bandaid detonation, but it kills off plenty of power. The heads and cam lose power just like any horsepower package when the engine gets got with heat soak.

Hello,

Lots of choices here. I suggest you talk at length with those candidates who you may seek for this kind of upgrade. The wrong cam can produce very poor idle and driving qualities. Most folks who have had hanging idle, plug fouling, stumbling and stalling from their cams would gladly swap them back to stock. Its just a shame that they missed out on some really good grinds like the ones we sell. The good news is that there has been alot of research regarding Viper head/cam combos and there are lots of choices from quality tuners throughout the Viper community.

We offer a heads and cam combo that will net you 100 Guranteed RWPH with a good exhaust system. Cost is about $ 7,950.00 including installation.

I strongly feel that making the right choice in the heads/cam/exhaust departments will build a strong basic platform for any and all future mods that you may wish to consider. Make the wrong choice and you may be spending the same money again, and then some.

Good luck with your search.

I recommend just doing the heads and roller rockers. Camshaft for the work is not worth it. You should be able to pull 500 rwhp with headers, heads, roller rockers, K&N Filters, smooth tubes, and a good cat back.

I can sell you heads with big valves upgraded springs and retainers for $2600. exchange No need to pull the engine to install cam and completely reliable. Have a customer with 40,000 miles on them with no problems

Sorry Mike,
But I disagree with that, I think that if your going to have the heads off you might as well throw in a new cam as well. I think a lot of people forget that what they are doing to their Vipers is simply hot rodding and one hot rodding staple modification is a camshaft. If you pick the right grind for your application then you can't go wrong and you will be rewarded by a faster accelerating engine. The camshaft is in effect the brains of an engine. Along with this would be a good set of heads/rockers and a good exhaust, the stock intake manifold is capable of moving alot of air already.

If you are going to do the CAM you will to make sure you have some one to properly degree the cam. Make sure the cam is drilled for 3 bolt adjustable cam gear. Last cam I got had to be adjusted over 8 degrees from the stock gear. If put incorrect you could lose all that you gain. If you want I can give you some grinds that I have used

Thanks
