OK I know nothing about driving helmets except that it needs to be a Snell 95 or better and that I need two for Viper days. They will probably only be used a couple of times a year. What do you have? What brand and model do you suggest? What should I look for? Where to buy?

See ya in Dallas :D !

Look on our members discount area. Helmet city sold me a Pyrotect helmet for about $265. It was delivered in 2 days!

Do not buy a helmet without trying it on first. The insides of various brands are different shapes as are people's heads. Remember, you will have it on for at least 1/2 hour stretches, often in high heat. The wrong fit can literally be a headache.

SA2000 rating is the way to go .... AND

HELMETCITY.COM offer 10% discount to VCA members.

Bell has sport II and M2 that are SA2000 rated and are relatively inexpensive.

Snell 95 will be no good for Viper Days in a year or so.
Like Joseph says, get a SA2000 which I believe will be good for almost 10 years.
Also like jkrmode says, they all fit different. Try it on before you buy.
Bobby Archer sells helmets at Viper Days. That's where I bought mine. OMP Fomula is what I bought......best fit, not the cheapest though. After landing on my head many times racing Moto-X, I soon came to understand what a quality helmet was worth........priceless!!
Don't slack on safety!!
Also, motorcycle helmets are not lined with Nomex as far as I know. Nomex is standard on many high end car helmets.

Helmet city had me measure my fat head at the same place a baseball cap would sit. The helmet fits well. Motorcycle helmets are not for cars. Different padding for different types of impact.

You can always get a Nomex face mask if you need it. Do try different brands on and see what fits better. I am getting an Arai since I can use it those 5 times on the track and the rest on a bike. To each his own........

I have a closed face, no shield helmet. If you ever plan on doing any open wheel track schools or other open cars buy a full face w/ a removable shield. If you will only be driving the viper i would prob buy a open face helmet this time.
