Help!!! 5 point install on 00\' RT, need quick answers....

I bought a set of Teamtech 5 point harnesses for my 2000 RT/10. I am going to Buttonwillow this weekend to practice for Viperdays so I must install tomorrow (Thurs.) early. The instructions I have are for a 96/97' GTS, IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE FROM AN RT/10? The last thing I need is to get hung up for a prolonged period of time. Anyone ave any experience with this??? Quick replies will be greatly appreciated.

Will email additional pics this evening. A few differences:

<LI>Must disconnect alarm cutoff switch - use a paperclip or scratch awl to pull out the little goofy bent wire - then connector will detach allowing bulkhead to be removed
<LI>bulkhead extends towards outside of the car further - templace for a GTS will NOT work - but all 4 holes for the belts to pass through will be fully contained in the center bulkhead piece.
<LI>Most importantly, you will have to drill out 2 inner holes. They have been filled with epoxy and only are evident based on TINY dimples when you remove the bulkhead. They are already threaded and in the right place, but its a little more complicated than on a GTS. Have measurements and pics (Thanks to Seasnake) and will forward this evening.

Other than that - its about the same. Scariest part is cutting the bulkhead - use a very sharp knife or gasket punch to make a smooth edge in the outer skin of the bulkhead.

So that's how you disconnect that wire! I just left mine connected and worked around it. Oh well, maybe next time.

SloCal,

There is an "illustrated upgrade" on this site for installing 5-points in an RT/10 (url is http://www.viperclub.org/instructions/harness.html).

Print that out, along with Janni's modifications, and you are all set.

I did it in my GTS - it is not bad. When cutting the bulkhead, MAKE A TEMPLATE FIRST and be SURE it fits because you do NOT want to have to buy a new one. I made a wood template with a router and used a dremel to make the cuts on the bulkhead. Knife works too - just go slow.
