Hello everyone! Been looking at vipers for about 6 months now. Found a rt/10 in Irvine for 45K with 15,300 miles, 18" Forgeline wheels, Brembo brakes, custome side exhausts and a short shifter. Is this a good price? I tried to talk the price down to 44k but the guy wont budge. I looked at the car briefly and the rims got some curb marks, the paint is glossy and nice but got some very small scrathes by the right front quarter-panel and a small scratch by the fuel door. The front valance has scrathes underneath (the car is dropped 3/4"). Brake fluid kinda dirty, interior is nice and clean. What do you Viper experts think? Is this a good deal? My budget is 45k. Thanks in advance for you help.

Sounds pretty good to me, but for the dirty brake fluid (of course mine is too ;) ). Is the person in the VCA? Been tracked? Done a car fax on it? Checked at the Dodge dealership for service records?

It's gonna get scratched, no matter what you do.
Forgelines cost about $3000 + new
Brembo Brakes with bigger rotors, re-locate parking brake, etc. cost $5000 =/-
Side exhaust $ ?????
Lowered 3/4 inch? Maybe revalved springs and 'racing' shocks $1300 =/-
Seems like serious money in mods IF they are what you wanted anyway.
Have a Viper Tech look at the car -- I would 'trust' your local dealer to look at it for overall condition purposes -- much better than nothing.
Price doesn't seem bad at all. (Hard top? another $2500+)
BUT - don't pay your limit for ANY car and not have money left for some mods (MGW, etc.) 'cause you are just gonna have to do it.
Good Luck and (maybe) welcome to the club -- JOIN THE VCA!!!

Can some help me out and take a look at the car with me. Maybe Monday or Tuesday afternoon. The car is located in Irvine CA. The Vper Tech is suppose to inspect it. But i would like a Viper owner to come with me. The guy has upgrades on the car, so im fraid that he tracked the car or abused it. The license plate is "SILVERASP" Its a 98' RT/10 anyone know this car? He lives in Newport Beach and is from middle eastern decent.

NADA pricing
These figures just went DOWN almost 2k accross the board

Low Retail Average Retail High Retail
$38,500 $42,300 $47,900

Original owner? Documentation / receipts etc?
You didn't mention, but does it have a hard top?
Factory soft top?

I paid 49,500 for a 1,700 mile original owner, factory h/t, polished factory wheels, every bit of sales and owner documentation (998 update done), unused soft top and bikini top, garage queen car. It was at the high NADA book price at the time I bought it.
Didn't bat an eye to pay that based on 10 other cars that I looked at.
Good luck!

Not a bad price, but why do you really want a 98? I would go with a 95 and you can save about 7 grand (or at least 5). Just what I would do.

Are you being sarcastic? I would definitely go with a Gen II Viper over a Gen I... bigger engine, to start with. Cooler hood, too :) However, you are right... it is a lot cheaper to go with a Gen I.

Sold my 99 Silver RT/10 for $51,500 last summer with 14k miles and factory hardtop - bought it 6 weeks earlier for $50k and 12k miles

I thought there were paint issues on some of the 98 silver cars???

Sounds like a extremely low price and Silver is very hard to find. Concerning NADA pricing, they bounce around so much that one should only use them
as a guide. They have no adds for Color ( very critical for Viper buyers ) , or if the car has a hardtop. Many Viper Dealers , with good reputations, would
be hard pressed to get quality Snakes if they went off the references out there as they have been notoriously high to drastically low in just a short
time frame.

98 saw only around 300 RT-10s built, Silver was rare, and it usually brings 1-2 grand over Red. Good luck and look up www.victoryvipers.com and have
Dave Jenkins check out the car for you.

ATTENTION LARZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since you are a recent join, maybe you don't know Bill Pemberton (Posted just prior to this one).
He is Viper Sale Manager at WoodHouse Dodge in Blair, NE.
He probably sells more Vipers than anyone else (if not, he's tied for first).
So, PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT BILL SAYS.
You'll get no BULL from him, just good, honest, quality advice. He is as interested in keeping the Viper Nation solid with happy owners as he is about selling new/used Vipers.
If you already knew this, I apologize for taking up board space.

After two RTs, the SILVER'98 is da BEST!

PS- I got mine at Tuttle-Click Dodge/VIPER in Irvine about 20,000 miles ago. They are great. My $00.02 - Jim
