Help! I have never even seen a Viper in person, but I just bought a '98 RT/10 which I pick up this coming weekend. I am so excited I can't even sleep! After reading the posts here, it looks like I won't be disappointed when I bring it home, either! She is red with only 8000 miles and I'll add 800 just bringing it to MS! :)

Congrats.......a fifth of your favorite liquid libation should do the trick for that insomnia........but PLEASE don't drive!

Post some pics when you get a chance!

Word of advice.....as a "new" Viper owner / pilot......

On your first application of "drive like you stole it" throttle input, make sure the front wheels are pointed straight ahead, otherwise you will be looking at where you just came from!

Thanks! I will definately keep those wheels straight....so far the most powerful car I've ever driven is my 4cyl Honda Accord. Probably not that big a difference though...right?

Congrats on your purchase. You will notice a slight difference in power and acceration over your 4 cyl Honda......Take the top off and enjoy driving. As Viper Joe said be careful they can get away from you. Your first mod should be joining the VCA....Once again congrats and enjoy your new ride. :D

PS: Great color choice.

Congratulations!! I bought my 98 R/T two years ago and it also had 8,000 miles on it. Now she's over 24,000 FUN miles.

Don't let her waste away in your garage-drive her; she'll love it and so will you!!

Pics ARE a must :) :)

Wow from a honda to a viper, boy are you ever going to be suprised!!!

I went from a 4 cylinder 98' Eclipse Spyder GS to a Viper. But I had LOVED Vipers since 92'. I had seen plenty (I have that built in Viper radar), rode in a few and driven a 94' RT/10. But still, man oh man, what a change. I was almost a victim of the "Snake Bite" (gassing it w/o the wheels straight) my 1st day, so listen to the warning that ViperJoe issued. He's not joking. Other than that, let the party begin :headbang:

You think you can't sleep NOW, wait until it is in your garage!!! Then you have to keep going out there to be sure you aren't dreaming. You definately want to join VCA, money well spent. Enjoy but take your time in learning the car, they bite and sometimes hard.

Excellent color choice, RED is the fastest color, everyone knows that even if they won't admit it.

Thanks for all the advice! I will take it slow (well....as slow as possible) while learning the car. I just joined the VCA this AM :2tu: since I plan on participating in events as much as possible.

And OF COURSE red is the fastest! Due to the fact that it is at the far end of the visible spectrum, it creates less interfearance with the surrounding atmosphere and less drag on the car. Doesn't everyone know that??

You'll do fine on your first drive. You'll be soooo careful. But, still be very careful in 1st and 2nd gear as stated above. You will absolutely need a Valentine One Radar detector.

I don't have any experience with the ******. Have had V1 for many years, and only with instant on radar have I ever seen a V1 get caught.

see this VCA thread: Who has the best Radar detector??
