Help! How Do You Replace \'93 RT/10 Driving Light?

I'm posting on behalf of a bud who doesn't post here. Please provide instructions on how to replace passenger side fog lamp.

Thanks, George

Lamp or just the bulb?

There is a large diameter rubber plug in the inner fender just forward of the front tire. Remove it and you will see the back of the lamp housing. The lamp housing is pivoted on a top and a spring clip on the bottom. You can either bend the spring clip or on mine, you can rotate it so it doesn't capture the lamp body. From there you can unscrew the glass cover and replace the bulb. Much of it will be one-hand work.

Otherwise, I think you have to remove the front fascia. Some will argue that is not so hard, I think none will argue is not hard the first time.

Goto http://www.mopar.com/pdf/viper/92v.PDF and download the parts listing, then look at figure 8-1105 (page 51 of Acrobat view)

I used to have a '77 Grand Fury police car with a 440. When I sold it, they guy only wanted the HD engine for his GTX. Oh well.

To fill in where Tom left off, to actually remove and replace the lamp itself (and not just the bulb) involves removing the front facia, which, while not complicated, does take some time. Remove all the screws along the bottom of the facia, and on the inside of the fender wells, then remove/break the plastic fasteners along the top edge (under the hood) - the fasteners can supposedly be replaced easily from your local Mopar dealer or supposedly even a generic car parts store. Once the facia is off, you can replace the lamp housing; but don't go this route if you only need to replace the bulb.

As an aside/nitpick, "driving" lights and "fog" lights are different animals, the differentiator being the beam pattern; driving lights are narrow focused pinpoint beams for long distance, fog lights are wide flat beams meant to project under fog (as its usually thinnest for the first few inches from ground level) and are also often found with amber lenses (although thats not a requirement). Viper's don't have driving lights unless you do as I did on my dearly departed Gen I, and remove the fogs and put in different lamps.

Tom & Randy - thanks very much for the info. I think it's just the lamp my bud needs to replace.

Fog lights! Roger, now I know. Thanks again. George
