Actually, the secret that most of the track guys use is just to lift as you go by sound control. In a track event there is no reason to worry about times (I assume this is a school are you are practicing driving the line and gaining control). Even in the races, some of the problem guys lift by sound and get back on it when they are far enough away. They figure the lift isn't worth the cost of changing or the loss in HP from a change in pipes.
If your Viper is stock, I would be stunned if you are actually getting to 103db. Decibel readings have a lot to do with atmospheric conditions, but even John Beazley's loud monster never got much above 95. My race car generally runs around 93-95db and it is always louder than the Viper.
