Help! Re: Random Tech Cats need pic of before and after....

I am going tommorow morning to get my Random Tech 3' Hi-Flow cats installed. Does anyone have a picture they could post or e-mail to me ([email protected]) for a 2001 or similar? Of before and after shots, for a highflow cat install? So I could bring with me? My car currently has the corsa 3' exhaust w/ stock cats. I took my sidesills off tonight, so I can drive there with the side sills already off. First time I have had them off.
The stock cats are clamped(outlet side)to the Corsa now, do I cut there? or just unbolt? And then weld... I know the header pipe needs to be cut, right were it welds to the stock cat.. (from doing a search)

Note: I ordered the cats from JonB. So I have the reducers for the inlet, and the extentions for the back, to bolt or weld to the Corsa. I was told this is what would be needed. Thanks

The LONG end is the outlet....the SHORT end is the inlet.
Since the overall cat length matches OE, a picture won't tell much!

Just be sure you align the rear tips BEFORE you batten down everything....
Its too late if you tighten from the front and discover OOOPS!

I just installed a corsa on my 01 and drove around with the sidesills off. They throw off a lot of heat and my guess is the side sills reduce the heat that the cats give off right under the door. I was worried that the paint would burn or the fiberglass would melt if I drove for too long w/o the side sills.

Maybe someone with more experience can chime in but I don't think I would go for a ride for any length of time with the side sills off.


Let us know how the sound is after you get it done. I was thinking of putting on 2.5" RT just to get less heat in the car and on the sills but keep the sound the way it is. I love the corsa sound.

JKViper - I too like the sound of my car as-is. But just can not take the heat. Will let you know how it works. Go with the 3' cats if you are going to do it. Call Jon form Partsrack up.

TedK - GREAT PIC, thanks. I would really like to have the welding done off the car. But Im worried once I get home, it wont bolt up correctly. How did you insure that it would?

I had mine welded on the car. The welders at Midas had no problem doing it. When I removed it later, I noticed they had gotten a good weld all the way around. You could have it tack welded on the car, remove it and then have it welded. I don't think clamps alone will keep it stable enough.
