Ok, i have read about the 93-94 head gasket problem and am wondering if i get a viper and it has this problem is there a one-time fix for it? is it covered by D-C? how much does this cost to repair? did alot of them have it or a few? Reason being, i know i can afford a 93 or 94 but i dont want many problems b/c they are expensive to fix. thanks

I can't do full justice here, but Chuck is at least the following;

-certified Viper Tech
-Viper Owner
-Dodge Dealership owner (www.tatorsdodge.com)
-very generous (with his time) member of the Viper Nation

Chuck is da man! He is one of the nicest and most helpful individuals on this board. The new gaskets are $100 per side from what I heard, labor extra.

Chuck Tator is Tator's Dodge. The oldest Dodge Dealership on this planet. Chuck is the Viper Wizard... and for folks like me with a gen.1 car. Chuck is the missing link. Phone # is on the bottom of my Identity. He can give you a quote on what is should cost you to have the head gaskets done. But do not worry about calling him. Very generous person. Buy the way- He is a great source for parts as well; 20% off plus free shipping to Viper club members.

if your worried about footing the bill for head gaskets then it might not be the right time to purchase your viper. I am sure that a grand would be a bargain if a dealer did the work. by your post sounds as though your comming up thru the neon ranks.
wondering if there is a one time fix and how much does dodge cover....soounds very much like the neon board. heck its about $600 - $ 800.00 for a neon head gasket install. good luck hunting down the viper that your looking for.

actually, the reason i was wondering is i don't want to be naive about the problem - trust me i can foot the bill for the install and gaskets - just wondering if maybe dodge realized they were faulty and issued a recall? IT HAPPENS - i got a new intercooler on my Lightning because some of them leaked - just wondered - still new - and by the way if i was coming up through the neon ranks would i drive a 30k truck?

just wondered the cost and if getting them replaced once REALLY fixed the problem for good, from the explanation i read the design might cause them to leak again even though they were replaced....

I believe the gaskets were just introduced. So unless the rebuild was done in the last three to five months, probably not.
