Hi guys...I recently totalled my 2003 SRT10 vert...I puyrchased the car from california 7 months ago for 51K ( I live in hawaii)..

Now I currently owe 48K for the car and my insurance only wants to give me 47K for the totalled vehicle...

Now acording to the kbb my car is worth around 52-55K with the 27 K miles on the odometer here in hawaii...And 46-49K from a dealership..

So needless to say Im very surprised by the low ball number from the insurance company...

The car has 27K miles...max care warranty till 2011....

Is their any were I can turn to to show my car is worth more than 47K??????

Thanks for any help

Sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully you can insure another one... You may be able to cancel the remainder of the warranty and get some of your money back. What color of '06 are you going to be looking for. I know where you can get a First Edition Coupe.:D

Also dont forget that the insurance company has to pay you the sales tax on the car. So if they are offering you $47,000 and and sales tax is 7% in your state, then you would receive about $50,000. The policy assumes that you will be replacing with a similiar priced vehicle and that can not be done without paying sales tax on the new purchase so they allow sales tax (This law does vary by state and I cant comment for sure how your state of Hawaii does it)

The information is correct and you can cancel the warranty and get a refund for the balance remaining. The Insurance Company does have to pay for sales tax and this is pretty uniform throughout the US.

Good luck and call me if I can assist with any values, etc.

Sorry to hear about your loss and hope it gets worked out. And 2nd on the driving lessons or a less powerful car to get used to first before going back to Vipers.

For future reference get "AGREED VALUE INSURANCE". This option you will pay a little extra but you are insuring the car for what you want to insure it for. I had the same thing happen to me when my mamba was totalled i got the full amount back instead of what the car was worth at the time. But never the less the damage is done and sorry for your loss on the car.
