It looks like I will have to take the high pressure line into the dealer. Oh and this line is on back order until August. Is this the fate for parts for the Viper?.

Rare car = rare parts.

Bull crap. Dodge is totally lacking at having parts available for our cars, any years. Call Paul at Don Scharf and he'll send you out one within 24 hours and it won't cost $125. I made the same mistake a year ago. Also there is a tool required to disconnect these hoses. Any auto parts should have one. I forgot where I got mine but it was cheap. Get a new or used hose and they just snap back together. Mine came from Dodge without an o ring in it so check it if you go that route.

Perhaps the Wizard can chime in here but for the production numbers I am not suprised that the parts are as rare as they are. Of course everyone who needs a part that is back ordered or hard to find will say boo on Dodge for not providing more.

Maybe it's a common friggin problem and that's why they are back ordered. You do realize a huuuuuge number of viper owners are not on this forum and they do need parts too.

Why are parts for corvettes so easy to come by? Because they make 14146141341437614734431431459056820394 a year!

Don't release the quick connect. Just unthread the connectors and leave them attached to the line. Then just thread them back onto the fan.

FWIW the line cost me 240 and the fitting at the fan cost 100, all Canadian when my o-ring took a dump and the line started leaking. All in all it was still cheaper than the 150 dollar per hour dealer shop rates they charge in my neck of the woods.

By the way, without going out and looking at it, I'm assuming both lines attach to the fan the same way. Just unscrew 'em.

So I just checked the service manual which is helpful only half the time. I realize it says to take the fittings apart and throw away the o-rings, but you can unthread the connectors while leaving them on the lines, then only replace them if they actually leak.

Besides, if one does leak, which I doubt, it'll be very little, and you'll still be on the road while waiting for parts to come in.

21mm wrench if I remember correctly.
