The car sounds fantastic but some numbers in the article don't add up.

The article quotes 695 ft/lbs of torque.......really?

A 1/4 mile time of 10.7 and a trap speed of 134 mph?.....again I don't think those numbers work with the stated hp and the laws of physics.

On the flip side, I truly hope I'm wrong.....

Cheers,
George

Hennessy has a 1/4 track at his shop, I would have to assume those are the times and mph he achieved?

Ugh, not a JH post. He has to build fast vipers so he can out run the cops busting his place. Ahh, the good ole days.

George, has to be a flywheel claim, no way at the rear wheels. Take a G IV, add headers/exhaust, port the intake and heads and you'll be at 700 flywheel hp. I'm 603 hp and 580 trq at the wheels in my Gen IV on Dan Cragin's conservative dyno.

JH is da man in recent years. Not the guy he used to be and Jay Leno loves his Exige 1200 HP monster. Saw it at COTA and its awesome.

What Hennessey has done - especially to Viper owners - is unforgivable. Also, even today, his cars are over-priced, under-powered, and unreliable.

To get to these figures, Hennessey had to install high-flow cylinder heads and stainless steel long tube headers, K&N air filter, three-inch stainless steel exhaust system and high-flow catalytic converters.

Wait, I can get a whopping 10% power improvement AND some fugly stickers on my car at the same time!? Somewhere deep inside I always felt that my viper needed to look more like a Kia and now my dream has come true.

I'd be willing to wager that just by swapping out the stock cats for high flow units from magnaflow (or eliminating them altogether) you could pick up at least 20 RWHP and some extra torque, but then you'll have the smell of exhaust in your cabin. Longtube headers...typically worth 25-30 RWHP.

The K&N filter...worthless...all it does is allow more dust into your engine with ZERO performance benefit. Cylinder heads probably not doing much other than costing you money without a cam upgrade.

No way that the Gen.5 with those improvements ran 10.70 s with street tires...Show the video/time slip on a official track....For those that do not remember, this tuner had a lot of issues with peoples cars/money in the 90s.... Be Careful....

If stock Gen IVs can click off 10.Xs I have no doubt this gen v did 10.7

Gen IVs with similar mods are well into the 10s.

My Gen 2 HMS Venom 650R sounds better. Nothing beats a nice lumpy cam.
