Dave and the folks with the Gateway Viper Club were kind enough to invite the Kansas City club to join up in a recent cruise to Lake of the Ozarks. While I had to leave early, it didn't stop me from taking some pictures and enjoying an abbreviated day with some awesome Viper owners!
Our caravan from Kansas City numbered all of four cars, but it was a pretty awesome group of four: Bill and his lovely wife Shawna, Gary and Ryck (this was before Ryck bought an RT/10 "driver" in addition to his '97 blue/white GTS garage queen), Jerry and his lovely date Kristen (or Christine, Kristy, or Clarissa depending on who I introduced her to), and Yours Truly. Here is a fuzzy picture of Bill's GTS on the road, which is my favorite car in the club (black/silver GTS, of course):
Our first stop was to see a genuine pink house in Sedalia. Hey wait a minute, that's my mom's house! She was quite taken aback with our surprise visit:
After a quick introduction to Mom (which is what everybody called her) we were on our way. We arrive in the Ozarks and soon encounter a traffic jam of a good variety: Vipers!
Ah, now we can air them out a little bit - much better...
We soon arrive at our lunch destination with all the St. Louis folks. By golly, this restaurant is right on the water! Wonder if there will be anything worth seeing here besides all these beautiful Vipers...
Hey, that Dodge truck with Wilbus Marine on the sides has got a VIPER engine sitting in the back...
What's this? I need to check out this boat? Well, that electric cover in the back is pretty slick, but what's the big deal? HOLY CRAP! Now I see what the big deal is!
We are talking over 1000 horsepower in two new Viper engines stuffed inside a boat! And then they started giving rides to all of the Viper owners and their guests. At 90 mph on the water (sorry, no pics at speed)...
After a little sunburn and a great time with my fellow Viper owners, it was time to head north and get back with the family. But not without a couple more Viper pictures before I left. I finally got to meet Dave (LittleFish) from down south and he is every bit as cool as he is on the forums. Nice Autoform roll bar on his silver SRT too. Oh yeah, and four SRT-10's there - one (and only one) in every color!
And a close up of a White Mamba, a Sapphire Blue GTS with red stripes (car was originally ALL red), and part of a wild burgundy metallic RT/10:
Not only are those Gateway folks a lot of fun to hang out with, but they have some pretty unique cars to boot. The group then stayed on and closed down at least one bar that Saturday night and had a leisurely Sunday as a follow up - all with great weather too.
Our thanks to Dave and the folks from St. Louis that gave us such a warm welcome on this cruise. Let's do it again soon!
Chris
PS. If anybody is interested in buying this Viper-powered boat (or other Viper boats), be sure to contact Rome Mason at Wilbus Marine: (573) 374-7095 Not cheap, but definitely first-class all the way!
