I got invited to run at a local drag strip on tue and will prob. take the SRT out to try it. I have never drag raced before only road racing, but I can't resist the temptation. Anyone that can recomend some tire pressures and launch strategy would be of great help. Is it really necessary to do a burnout? Any other helpful hints would be great also. thanks mike

HI MIke. I read several threads on the Gen I/II page that provided best tire pressures, etc. They may not be correct for the run flats but should be a good starting point. I think we also need to experiment to determin the best launch and shift points. For GTS/RT/10 I believe around a 1500 rpm launch with controlled throttle or clutch slippage to obtain controlled wheel spin and then rolling on the throttle as the tires can handle it. The SRT should be similar but possibly a little trickier with the run flats and larger diameter tires. Shift points that I have used before are about 5600 in first the around 5700 for second and third.

I have calculated, using a performance program, that the SRT will like slightly higher shift points. I think I would experiment with 5800 and 5900 rpm. Using an actual RWHP dyno curve my program calculates 11.91 at 122.6 mph. I have adjusted parameters through the years to have these estimates mimic results from Milan. Milan normally has worse traction that comparable tracks, thus a slightly higher et.

Good luck - wish I could join you but Rod Harris has my car all apart. Ugh!

Actually it will be at Milan, Ron. A friend of a friend has the track rented. I can't resist the temtation to try it and see why so many love it. I'll let you know how it goes. Any other tips would be great.

Oh, I forgot. A tire pressue around 20 would seem like a good starting point. Maybe a little less as the runflats may be stiffer sidewall.
