$76,000!!!!!

SOLD!

That's $16,000 off of MSRP!

Congratulations! Who's the lucky buyer?

Looks like a guy on the Alley by mistake???

[Sadistic}

Anybody want a new V0I9 for 78k?
My silly wife got excited and meant to type in a bid of 75 but hit 76k and she won the bid. I already have a new Viper (not a VOI) on the way to my house tomorrow(which I got a great deal on and still am paying more. I can just back out of the VOI9 but I thought that maybe I could help one of my Viper brethren out by buying it and selling it at a tiny profit. Hell, the car is certainly worth more than that, right? Any ideas? It's white with blue stripes, of course.

That guy sounds like pure class...

Shame because someone lost a heck of a deal to this guy.

The 2nd place guy should have bid more. I don't know why you are giving Sadistic a hard time. His wife bid on it and won it and they have every intention of purchasing the car according to him. Still a smoking deal for Sadistic.

Agree, many would try and back out of a mistake like this. Props to Sadistic.

why was a bid even placed if there was no intention on winning? are they 12 years old?

then HE turns around and tries to make $2,000 off of "her" mistake? was it even her, or did HE see a good buy and had all intentions of trying to make a quick buck?

i am calling, "blaming it on her", BS on this one.

i love this line - "maybe I could help one of my Viper brethren out by buying it and selling it at a tiny profit."

thanks for doing the "bretheren" the big favor.

people like this give ebay a bad name. (i could just back out).

i dont buy the "mistake" explaination and something smells fishy here IMO.

Why on earth would ANYONE buy a Zo6 when you can buy such a car for 76k, which is cheaper or just as much as z new Zo6?

What the hell is wrong with people.

Big deal. I hope he sells it to someone on here for $2k more than he paid for it, it would still be a good deal to whoever buys it. God forbid the guy comes across a good deal and trys to make a few bucks off of it.

I don't think anyone is disputing the good old American right to make money. The issue is it's a typical ebay foul up, in the buyers own words someone bid higher than they really wanted to (and when they had a new Viper on the way anyway) and now does not want it as their perception is there is not enough margin to flip it. So now they have to add a bunch more $ on. These actions spoil the completely smokin deal it could have been for someone who really lusted after the car, who really wanted it for themselves. Having said that I think the second bidder will get the car anyway, as the winning bidder has said he already contacted the dealer and said let him have it. But by bidding on it at a price she did not want to really pay she drove the price up for the other guy.
I still don't understand why she bid on it at all, maybe to flip, I dunno, but according to the bidding history it sure does not look like the last minute as the bidder said, so the perception would be that it is not a last minute mistake but a change of heart. But the bidder has said he would honor it anyway so that's all good.

I have been very busy right before the holidays and When I got back in town I found out a friend of mine (sadistic) had bid on this car which he knew I wanted one like it but didnt want to pay the high prices they where bringing. He got a little nervous when he couldnt get a hold of me,lol. He thought he might have to buy it himself or move it. Luckily for me we got in contact in time.

If that isnt a good friend and a stand up guy, I dont know what is. It is truly an awesome Christmas and going to be start of a good new year. Thanks to the people who supported Sadistic and prasied him for his actions.

I hate to say it but what it sounds like is that someone thought they could make a quick buck. If the person in question made a mistake, he would be just trying to unload it and not make a profit off of it. Then to make things even better you have a change to the story in that he was buying it for a friend. So which is it? His wife made a mistake and bid too much or he bought it for a friend or even better he thought he could make a quick profit and wanted to unload it. All along we hear the story that his wife did all of the bidding. Best of all is this part.
"If that isnt a good friend and a stand up guy, I dont know what is." Well if he was such a friend I don't suppose he would be charging you the extra 2k. We al pretty much know what is going on in this transaction so no use trying to sugar coat it.

Alabaster, exactly how much profit can be made on $2000 when you have to pay taxes and register the vehicle? Also,I bought the car for $76k not $78k so stick to what you know. And the story hasnt changed. He was not going to post up that he and his wife were bidding on this car for me but cant get a hold of me so now they need to unload it. That would have been pretty disrespectful to bring my name into something I knew nothing about in public. If you noticed he still didnt mention my name after I bought it.

They knew I wanted one, they took the chance and was prepared to take the hit if I didnt want it. I am greatful to him and his wife and will not defend him or myself on this subject any longer.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Well maybe you should stick to the facts and post about how this individual had the car listed over on the Alley for 78k. Now everyone else knows the facts. And also to add to the story he himself added that he was going to sell it for 78k to make a little profit.

Buhler keeps to their word!

As much as that gorgeous coupe didn't go to the highest bidder (bidder declined), it DID go to one of the other lucky bidders from the auction!

He still has a variety of coupes and convertibles left, and he wanted to let everyone know that he will offer similar savings on them as well.

If you bid and then wimp out of the deal you should be banned for life from Ebay. It ruins it for everyone.

If the car needs a foster home for a month or two, I would volunteer to do the right thing and take it in for awhile :)

You would think the price would sell that car but who knows. Is it on the floor for the same price?

Gotta be the '08. My 2 favorite vipers, were I going to 'upgrade', would be the '06 VCA or VOI9 coupe. I think they're both gorgeous, but would be the little brother to the '08. The deals are there to be had now - you could pick either one up for mid $70s (same as '07 Z06) and the 2 cars aren't even comparable for the same price - Viper all the way! Even tho '08 will out perform, that 500/505/525 is nothing to sneeze at!!! How many of us will really be able to put that extra 100hp to use on paved streets safely anyways?

I know this is an old post, but look at my avatar and tell me who you think is the owner of the VOI9 in this thread. :D It is strange to read about all the hype that surrounded this Viper back in 12/06'. :eater:

Saw one going North on the Meritt parkway the other morning. The road presence was truly amazing. Maybe he was heading to Tators......

Limited production, only 2nd time for white coupe, 4 months after release this car can be bought for $20K (23%) below MSRP?? That was news. Probably no one at that time had paid less than $80K, and many paid $85K or more.

Finally got it ! vbmenu_register("postmenu_2413380", true);

That was me. Just bought the car out in MO. Thanks for the comments. Next time you see me, stop and say hi!

BTW, People on the Merritt are nuts. I was doing 80 and I can't count the number of cars that past me doing 90+. Fun road to drive on though.
