That hot air is coming from your catalytic converter and the only way to get rid of the heat is to remove the cat.

Try turning the temperature control to cold. Even with the fan off, hot coolant will circulate through the heater core and may allow heated air into the cabin area. With the setting on cold, the coolant does not circulate through the core, and therefore not through the cabin.
