I've purchased a Hot Lap timer and recall seeing something regarding only having one transmitter on the track which all cars use. In an event with a lot of cars, how do you ensure that only one is in use. What problems occur if more than one transmitter is in use. Aren't the signals encoded somehow to only communicate whith their respective receiver?

Thanks in advance for any input.

The Hotlap Timer works with an IR beam transmitter that you place somewhere on the track. You put the receiver in your car. When the receiver passes the transmitter, your Timer shows the lap time. If there is more than one transmitter on the track, you'll pick them all up each time you pass one. Since your display will show that you just completed a lap at some point other than the place where you put your transmitter, you'll be able to know that there is a rouge transmitter somewhere. The transmitter/receivers are not encoded to communicate with each other only. You need to work with the other drivers at the track to make sure only one person puts a transmitter on the track, and everyone with a receiver will get their lap times.
