Hot Rod Magazine Viper in the 8\'s

I am surprised that no one here has mentioned the article in the new Hot Rod magazine. Hennesee's twin turbo ran in the 8's. I am surprised that Hot Rod would run such a story after so much has been written on how he runs his business. Did he settle up with everyone? Or does David Freiburger (HR writer) not care? Are 8's that remarkable that we don't care who gets the press. I have never had any dealings with Henn.. but there has been plenty published, unfavorably, that I am now curious.

Yes I know how to spell [******]. just thought it would get bleeped.

Haven't seen the mag here yet but will look for it - sounds interesting!

as for a mag not publishing achievements because someone is accused of being a ratbag - if people with their integrity in question got no press - you would never have heard of Donald Trump and a thousand other people that are household names but were accused of ripping many people off or walking right over them.... heck - some of them even got to be President.

Achievements speak for themselves and the press is entitled to report it without being called into question. It'd be a sad day when we have moderators deciding what we can see, hear and know... thank goodness we can rely on the press to tell us the truth.

....they DO tell the truth don't they? :p :smirk:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with holding people "accountable". If we don't, then the bad and illegal actions some have taken will be "accepted". I for one won't accept that. I just think people ought to be held accountable. Seems that some people want that word stricken from our vocabulary and our dictionary.

Boycotting people who do things you disagree with and people who dare associate with those people is perfectly legit and is one way of holding someone accountable when our laws and our justice system does not.

On another note, the H****Y 8 sec viper is not that impressive when you consider that it's running a drag trans. Any of the other tuners could match or beat those numbers if they chose to go that route. More impressive is the daily driver 9 sec vipers in my opinion.

I posted this twice, in other forums, I am glad at least a couple of you found it.

It got moved, then other posts refering to it got deleted. I e-mailed the question why and was not given the respect of an answer.

Now I understand the groups of people looking for other forums.

May as well say bye to this one.

Don't think I'm sticking up for anyone Steve. I just think there are two seperate issues. One relates to accountability - and what people do about that who feel they have a claim is up to them. The other relates to freedom of the press to report - and reporting achievements is not necessarily endorsing.

Mike Tyson is hardly the name that springs to mind when we talk about people with high personal standards of integrity and morality - even by his own definition - yet we still expect to hear about his achievements in the ring. Let's not confuse freedom and accountability by trying to destroy one to enforce the other - that mix is a one way street.

I live in a more socialist country than you guys - I'm surprised to hear Americans saying that freedom of the press should be sacrificed to punish people who live under a cloud. There are other ways to seek redress than muzzling the press - that's all I'm saying.

An 8 second Viper is still a good achievement for a car that is street driven - it has the 6 speed refitted after racing. BTW - there are no other Vipers currently running that would run an 8 by just fitting a 'glide - that will change - but that claim is wrong until someone proves it.

The Venom TT will be beat at some point - but to this time - nothing has. The 6 speed one ran 156mph for a mid 9. Some have gone under a mid nine with lower mph, some have topped 150mph but not gone near the ET, nobody has done both 156mph and an 8 other than 2 TT1000 Venoms. Those be the facts for now - until someone changes them by beating them. If we don't like that - then go build something quicker and reset the benchmarks.
