How can you HARDWIRE a Valentine One rader detector in a coupe?

I had my Valentine 1 radar detector hardwired in my 01 Z06 by running the cable along the headliner to the right A-Piller, then down to the kick panel in the passenger floor where it clipped into the accessory "power on only" cable.

Is there a similar way to hardwire my V1 in my 06 Viper Coupe? Has anyone done this?

The invisicord connects directly to and uses the power from the rear view mirror. I have one, and it works great.

I heard the invisi cord is great. At time I did mine I wasnt aware of that. So I went oldschool. I ran wire from Valentine along top of windshield in between plascic liner, I ran it to right side, down a-pillar and tucked behind/under glove box and then ran to accesorty lighter in center console. Works great, no problems, took about 20 minutes.

Invisicord has instructions with it. I would tell you exactly what I did with mine, but I'm at school. Trust me, I am terrible with these kinds of things and it is incredibly simple. Also check out this thread. I got the mount and the invisicord from the links on here. Perfect combo.

I saw the pics. I think I might prefer the just left of the mirror mounting location like I had it in my Z06. The instructions I found were talking about a Voltmeter? Is that right? Does anyone have better writeup of what cables to hook into on the mirror?

I like the Inviscord option - seems to be better than the V1 hardwire kit.

I buzzed out the connector on my '06. It's a flat 7 pin connector (only 3 wires used) that you can pull off the back of the mirror. Pin 1 is closest to the driver. Wires are in positions 2,6,7. Pin 2 is constant +12vdc and where the yellow Visacord probe goes. Pin 7 is ground and where the black Visacord probe goes. I used additional small cable ties to tie the probes to the individual wires acting as a strain relief, then another cable tie to secure it to the bundle. Good luck.....

Only problem with using the Invisicord is that the mirror power connection is not switched - so that you always need to remember to turn off the V1. I also went old school and hardwired along the windshield and used one of the fuse-taps to get a switched power source.

Thats not true. It turns off automatically after 15min. I always leave it on, and when I lock or unlock the car, the radar goes off. I Love it

Didnt know that - thanks. I dont think it was that way on my '93 because it was possible to leave the light on. If this is true, I will be using the Invisicord on my '05 once it hits the streets.

This is exactly how I did mine as well. Very easy and works great.

Deam is right on, at least on my '06 car. My time delay is more like 5 minutes, but it down power down that circuit.

I also have the same mount in my Expedition and can move the V1 from one car to another in 15 seconds, just slide it into the mount and insert the modular plug.

I Have A Gtech Hardwired. Ran Along Headliner Down Pillar Straight To Fuse Box. You Can Get A Fuse Add On At Autozone Or Napa. Take Out Radio Fuse Replace With Add A Fuse Then Plug In Radio Fuse And Comes With 2amp Fuse For Accessory To Plug In. Very Simple. When Car Turns It Comes On And When Car Turns Off It Turns Off. No Hardwiring Needed.
