Someone told me to run the engine, then siphon off the fluid out of the resevoir, a couple of times.

Did I hear right? Anybody technical out there?

(Going to the Willow Springs, changing to Red Line power steering fluid)

Vic,
While we don't do this in the driveway

, we do use the "My-T-Vac" vacuum extractor to siphon out the PS reservoir, refill with RedLine (obviously put cap back on...), start car and cycle the wheels back and forth (lock to lock a couple of times) then siphon out again, refill, start and cycle steering and then refill. You may want to do it once more for the first time, but you are getting way over 95% if you do it three times and you don't break open the PS system. (Our motto, if it's not leaking.......)

Now, after every track event, we just siphon and refill and have never had a power steering fluid issue....

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Janni. I actually found an old post by Henri that said basically the same thing.

I'm glad you didn't answer that your "driveway doesn't need it's power steering fluid changed"! After I posted, I could see someone saying that!

Anyway, thanks!
