Good timing. Mine arrived today, so I'm mulling my options. I know that the lighter plug is pretty easy to get to, so that might be a good place to tap into. The radio/lighter/switch trim is just held on by some velcro on the bottom, and spring clips on the top (at least it was on my '93, haven't tried on the '97 yet). The lighter was switched on the '93 too, not sure about the '97 You could snake (no pun intended) the wire up around the windshield surrount. Passenger side would probably be easiest.

I got the remote display, but I'm not sure if I'll use it yet. I remember seeing a car at the NJ zone event that had the detector mounted between and beind the seats and used the remote up front. I may play with that.

How is everyone mounting the detector? What about the remote display?

I have the V1 hardwired. I used the switched power in the fuse area. I am not sure if this is the best way to do it but it works. You can run the power wire up the door and across the headliner. This also allows you to run a wire to the hidden remote unit very easily, mine is on my steering column. I am on the road otherwise I would post pics. Hope that helps.

<FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Radio Shack sells small fuse taps that piggyback a switched fuse spade in the underdash fuse panel. Make sure you select the fused side spade. Enables you to get switched power with no splicing. I then, for extra protection installed an inline fuse which I then ran to the V1 power supply. Ran the V1 wire between the windshield and the "A" pillar, across the top of the windshield to the V1.

I mounted the V1 to the rear view mirror with velco and for extra stability made a small "L" shaped bracket to support the front of the V1, and again attached with velco so that the V1 was wedged between the bracket on bottom and the windshield on top. Ended up being quite stable. The V1 remote was mounted on the steering column and you guessed it, with velco.

NOPE! For some reason the lighter gets power all the time, even when the engine is off.

Use the remote! See Ron's pictures. Looks / works great!

Awesome ideas guys! I, myself, always just plugged it in the cigarette lighter. I thought that was all I could do. Not anymore!

Thanks-
