Well once again I got another question. I was just reading in a post about someone trying to get 50K miles out of their clutch. Is that possible? They are at 30K miles now. I was told at 17,000 that mine needed to be changed shortly. I ignored them because they wanted $1000 for the clutch and said I will just wait until it dies and then I will fix it for 1/2 the price. First I needed to replace my brake pads and rotors at 17,000 and now the clutch? WHAT THE HELL? Do I have a defective Viper??

If it was abused before you got it, than it may need to be changed. By abused I don't mean just racing, riding the clutch can wear it out pretty quick.

Bought car at 16K. Slave cylinder went out at 19K. Dropped tranny and tech found alum. flywheel was warped, which damaged clutch, etc. Replaced cheap old flywheel with Fidanza, dropped in a new LUQ clutch kit, new slave, and seems to be good to go.
I expect my RT had some hard launches in its first life...

F355, take my advice and start reading up on autos and get your hands dirty, at least with the small, easy stuff. Dimitrios is spot on when he says it's because you're 19 with a fancy car. You are their perfect customer.

Maybe you should change your service shop. Chuck is only around 60 miles away.

probably your driving style
I have to agree.
Are you slipping the clutch or using it as a brake on hills?
I know it's not comparing apples to apples but I got 140,000 on my Mustang and clutch was still good when I sold it. I have 130,000 on a Toyota pickup, still original clutch.
I only have 5,900 miles on Viper but expect the clutch to last well over 17,000.

Thats it Keith I heard enough, tommorow we will drive and determine ourselves how the clutch is, I would almost bet 99% that nothing is wrong with it. That 1% is that you are slipping and riding sh** out of the clutch. I really don't think that you are shifting in that way as to smoke it up. As far as the animal making a crib out of the V10 I will check this out if you want. I also highly highly doubt that there is any nest in the block. I could possibly see the intake manifold but even that is a question, how does the animal easily get passed the throttle bodies? Aren't they only fully open at WOT? You don't think the animal was sucked in under WOT and decided to build a nest at the same time do you? I'm sorry but I am not buying the Dealer's estimate, solution and $400.00 bill to solve the problem. Oh yea the clutch, I'm not buying that story either. Dimitrios has an original clutch that is strong as balls driving with drag radials, several 1/4 mile runs, and tearing up the streets in the city. I know he has alot more mile than you. I have 32,000 on my original clutch and I'm not easy on it.
