I keep hearing that w/o forged pistons on the cream puff the car will not last with Roe SC. Is this true? I do some road racing.

Just make sure the mixtures and timing are right, and the cylinder temperatures do not exceed the limitations of the cast pistons. Which basically means keep the boost low and do not put nitrous on top of it.

I would strongly recommend making a trip to a good tuner to ensure proper air/fuel mixture.

Where are you hearing this at and from who?

If you do road racing, feel free to contact me and we can discuss what might be best for your car when doing more extensive track events (in regards to cooling, crankcase ventilation, octane recommendations, etc..).

Regards,
Sean

ElDiablo,

I saw a few posts on 'Rally Freak', where people were spewing B.S. big-time! I was tempted to post, but everything I read over there is soooo laughable, I took the high-road. In many cases, people are just trying to stir-the-***, or may have alterior motives. Bottom line: Talk to Sean, and don't listen to idiots on the internet. He is one of the few select Viper tuners with a great rep., and I truly believe he is looking out for your best interest.

One, there was only one person talking about it. The info I got was directly from other tuner and not antibody's post.

Too bad that you find my forum "laughable" maybe if you post something smart it will change.

Which tuner told you that?

Is Viper10 from your forum a tuner?

You mean the forum here?

Where it is said:

Treynor is clueless and has proven that just because you have money, doesn't mean you have brains.

Or Doug Levin builds cars that can't be used as daily drivers or on a race course, and that he doesn't know a thing about chassis and suspension.

LOL i like reading cr@p like that. My 2000 has cast pistons and DLM sc with three years of hard driving without a hitch. It's all in the tuning! There are lots of DLM cars on the street running with cast pistons that i know of and they havent had any problems. i cant see why you cant use the Roe Racing superchargr if its tuned right.Just my 02

Max :p

No, Viper10 is not a tuner on my forum. And if he is a tuner then I did not know that. I heard it from a tuner that advertises here on VCA and I will not mention his name.

Max, my question was for the race track. I know that on the street there will not be any problems.

ElDiablo,

I was not trying to insult Rally Freak. I go there to check out videos frequently, and do enjoy many sections of the site. Not to mention the amount of personal time to create/maintain a website/forum must be significant. Much respect...

On the other hand, the Viper Tech. sections has some posts that are BS. This is not your fault, as you can not/should not censor posts from individuals. I guess I don't post because of 'time'. I already spend waaayyyy too much time on Viper websites, when I should be driving. Oh well, no hard feelings.

One, thanks for understanding.

To the rest of you...if you want to know which tuner will not install SC on a creampuf...call the other tuners listed on this site. There is only a few that do it. I was asked not to mention any names.
Also thanks for the e-mails that I got about the problems with SC cars. Don't worry your secrets are with me and I will never post them here. I'm just wondering why people are scared of posting about the problems with the products that they installed on their cars?

Good question. Several reasons:
1. Don't want to get beat down by XYZ tuner's fans / VCA leadership (recall the whole [******] ordeal, where people had problems, posted, got slammed for it, but eventually the truth came out).
2. Are too clubby with their tuner (e.g., won't mention that they've thrown a belt, had to go back repeatedly for tuning, etc. etc.).
3. Don't want people to think they pi$$ed away their money on something that doesn't work (i.e., pride).

Those are possible reasons, but it seems to me the most likely reason is they want to give the tuner a chance to investigate and remedy the situation without unfairly hurting their business. Posting about problems that have not been investigated thoroughly can have some value, but only if viewed in the proper context. A lot of people form quick opinions based on the existence of the problem without reserving judgment until the rest of the facts come out. The other thing about posting about problems is that the evidence is so anecdotal it may be meaningless. If one or two people have a problem and post about it, no one thinks about the [insert number here] others that haven't had the problem and haven't posted. So posting about problems can have an unfair impact on someone's business, and there is nothing wrong with being mindful of that.

As far as this Roe/creampuff issue, it is well known that Jason Heffner won't supercharge a car with cast pistons. However, what Jason once told me, and what I hope he told Diablo if indeed that's who it was, is that it's not worth risking his reputation, NOT that the cast pistons "will not last with the Roe s/c." Also, I suspect Sean's development of the VEC2 has had a major impact on how well the cast piston cars will do with the blower, because tuning is the key. Bottom line: there are several people running the Roe blower on cast piston cars, and if any of them are blowing pistons they haven't turned up to tell about it. If they're out there, I hope they do post their experiences, AFTER Sean has investigated and dealt with the situation.

One more Slaughter...

4. Some people realize when you add X amount of HP you add X amount of problems and they don't blame anybody for it.

Does anybody actually think you can go 100,000 stop and go miles on a 800 hp motor without turning a wrench on it a few times?
