How low is too low?

I bought my viper dropped. Looks great, but how much of an advantage is it for me considering I probably won't be tracking it? It's a pain pulling out of the driveway and going over speed bumps. I even scrapped the bottom once just from the crowning of a narrow road!

The front shocks are adjustable and the rear springs were cut to lower it. I take it I'll need new springs to raise it? Any suggestions?

Someone actually cut the rear springs???? Did you buy your car from somone that owned a civic!

If you want to go back to stock (which I think looks ok) there are lots of take off parts availiable. I like a slight drop myself but nothing that would have me scraping when I was driving down a normal road.

Normal road is fine. It's the abnormal and irregular roads that I have problems with. I have the work order from TNT for the car and it said the rear springs were cut. The car is great in every other respect... it's just the scraping makes me cringe.

doesn't the cut springs bother you??
would this not make car handle very poorly.
I would start by replacing the springs by finding someones low milage springs and shocks as craig stated.

Your shock and spring combination is wrong and that is probably why your car does not handle well. If you are just looking to have your car lower, you can change the springs.
If you want the car to handle well you should go with a shock with good valving that is adjustable, then you can run a spring rate that suits your driving style. Never lower the car more than a inch, that as low as you want to go.

So I guess you'll be following this auction on Ebay. Don't know what year you have or what year these came from, but good luck:

Ebay Spring Auction

You guys are the best! :2tu:

Actually, it handles pretty well. My best friend had a 2001 ACR and I don't feel too much of a difference other than the ACR being a bit stiffer... I swear I can feel every pebble on the ground in the ACR. Then again, I don't track it, so maybe that's where you'll really feel the difference.

I think I will go back to stock. Also, pardon my ignorance, but what are other ways of lowering the Viper without cutting the springs?

Look up two posts and you'll read, "If you are just looking to have your car lower, you can change the springs."

When Mr. Cragin advises you about your car, you should listen :2tu:
