How many?

Here's the question.

How many Gen1 & Gen11 owners have driven a Gen 3? If you have driven one who let you drive or gave you a ride -a friend or perhaps at VOI?

Friends and during VOIs.

Drivability is far better, no question.

But you know it has to be said: the

l-o-o-k

does matter for some folks also! :D

Have driven several gen 3's & love them. However when given a choice when I had to replace my '02 ACR I bought another gen 2.

I drove a GenIII at a local dealership last fall. They let me drive it with the sales rep and since I pulled into the lot with my RT/10 they were thinking trade. I loved it. I would definitely get one. I thought the ride was a bit more refined (not too much) and the cockpit seemed roomier to me. I love my GenII more and will never give it up. I'll have one Viper from each generation in my garage some day! :2tu:

I have driven one SRT10 that a friend/salesman let me take for a real nice ride. I did not see any major improvement over my Gen II but then it was before I owned it so I was not able to do any side by side comparisons. It also had more miles on it than my Gen II so I do not know how much that factors into it, I would assume not much since they were both low mile cars. I would love to have a Gen III nest to my GTS as my top down driver. :drive:

:D VOI9 was a blast. I didn't take my Gen2 and got to drive the SRT coupes and convertibles. On the autocross, drags and the Roval. It seems to me the later model doesn't wheel hop in the drags like mine does even with new tires. Since I had never driven my car at 130 on a banked track it's hard to compare the two. The SRT felt real solid and the instructor kept telling me to "gas it Martha". Man, it was fast enough for someone never going that speed before. :drive:

Driven a GenIII once. It belonged to a friend at the V-10 Nationals. Much better braking then my Gen1 and more "creature comforts". I perfer the looks of the Gen 1&2 cars.

Gen1 Viper...Birth of a Legend.

The wife and I beat the **** out of the Gen 3 @ VOI. :woot: We did have a lot of fun in the 1/4 mile. :drive: What a difference in the ride quality, but We still love our GTS more.(and it was faster to)

A fellow VCA friend of mine let me drive his VCA eddition SRt (just like yours Venomiss) and it was incredible. Not incredible with regards to power, but instead that the ride, handling, breaking, etc were so much more refined than my Gen 1. I love the rawness of my Gen 1 and wouldn't trade it for a Gen 3...but if I could, I could easily drive the Gen 3 for a daily driver...much easier to handle and drive. It was very nice.

Drove a friends blown Gen3 last year and comparing a Gen1/Gen2 to a Gen3 is like comparing a Chevette to a Cadillac! There is no comparison, the Gen3 is a much better car hands down. Now, if they would only put all of that into a Gen2 body, they would have something!!

I got to drive PAVIPERs old Black Mamba before he sold it. I did not really romp on it but was most impressed with the brakes and just the fit and finish.
One day I will have one.

SRT had several 05 convertibles available at the Eastern Zone Rendevous in 05. Had to wait my turn to autocross in one since one of them was driven so hard (and it was a very hot day) that the insulation caught fire and threatened to destroy the car until the Fire Dept was summoned to put it out. I did get to go through the Auto Cross course a couple of times and it was a blast. I would say the Gen 3 is marginally better than my Gen 2 in every dept except looks. :) However, I must admit the Gen 3 is growing on me and i now rate it just below the earlier generations in looks, which is pretty good.

Did not like it as much as my Gen II. The side exhaust is really not helping things. It sounds very truck like.

Seems smaller inside. But I did lower my seat a couple of inches on the GTS.

No comparison, they took a exotic and turned it into a normal car.
