I'm about to get my windows tinted on my RT/10 keep in mind its not a GTS which has the big back window, so i figured it would be cheaper than a GTS. How much did you guys get quoted or pay to have your windows done?
I called one place and asked about tinting my mustang Gt first and he said $180.00 then i asked about the Viper and they want $230.00 because he said he has to take more precautions on the Viper than the Mustang. He better take precaution on both my cars lol!

I was quoted $180 from one of those audio/tint shops but I went to a friend of mine that does it and without any discounts it was $150. $230 is a bit high but not that drastic, if you said $300 then we would have a problem. LOL! Good luck with it. Tints look amazing on the dark colored cars!!

I did 5% all around and absolutely love it. Over here we only have 5%, 20%, and 35%. Had 20% or 35% before can not remember and it was too light. During the day the 5% is not as dark as one would think but at night it is stealth!!! Looks great.

I was quoted $80 for the sides and $70 for the rear. They say the sides are very difficult due to the curves. Remember there is a vertical and a horizontal curve, not to easy to tint correctly.

I paid about $150.00.
And don't leave your car with them. I made an appointment when I had mine done, and when I got there they tell me their really busy and I should just leave the car and they’ll call me when it’s done. “they said this with a straight face” I looked around at all these 20 something kids and said “yeah right:)
I said I’d wait and they had it done in an hour. But for that hour, I heard about all the horror stories of the previous customers that were dumb enough to leave their car and what they did to them.

when I had my windows tinted, funny thing is they told me the same thing, Just leave it and we will get it done, ya right, I also sat there and watched them, about 1 hr. Not worth going home and getting a ulcer wondering what they are doing

Mine was free, my next door neighbor has his own tint business. He does some auto's and mostly high end security film for businesses and homes.
Niz is correct, the rear window is very difficult to do correctly so as not to have any wrinkles or bubbles. Make sure the guy doing it has been tinting for a long time, you don't want som amatuer trying to do the back window.
The good tinters have a computer program with the exact dimensions of any car's windows. He simply plugs the data in, and the computer and auto cutting machines does the rest.
Another thing to consider is the quality of tint to be used. I have Lumar tint on all my cars. My 96 indyram tint is 10 years old and still looks as good as the day it was put on.
$150 to $200 sound about right.

then of course you could go to autozone and get the ghetto tint, you cut it to size and press it on the window and the static hold's the tint on. 19.00 bucks

I did my Dakota myself (as I have done all my cars). Perfect? Nah. You'd have to look hard, though, to find where I screwed up a couple times. :) I could tell you I paid about $150 to have the GTS done (I'd never try THAT back window).....but the GTS was done in 99. :)

I just had my 99 done, I usually go with around a 15% tint, although it is not 'legal' I have a shop who has done my last 7 cars.If it is not legal, it is a cash deal.

I ended up with 27% which is the legal limit, and with the black interior, it looks great. The car gets enough attention, I did not need a cop pulling me over for the window tint. I paid 140.00

I do my own windows on all my cars and have gotten pretty good. It's all about buying good tint, a clean area, a steady hand, and A LOT of patience!!

With that said, in the spring I'm buying the kit from eBay that has the tint pre-cut. The back tint is one piece. I belive with shipping it is low 40 dollar range. You can get any percentage you want too.

On my BMW, I used the security titanium tint, and it reduced some of the reception of the radios in glass antenna. FYI

Another thing to consider is metalic tint and dyed tint. Metalic reflects more heat away but will interfere with radio, satellite, nav. systems. Dyed tint has come a long way they say. You see alot of cars driving around and there windows look purple, thats cheap dyed tint after a few years, but they say the technology has progressed and it doesnt do that anymore. A lot of installers offer a lifetine warranty now also. Just my 2 cents.

I paid just under $150. Like everyone else said, find someone that has been doing it for a while and STAY with the car. The back window can be a pain-but shouldn't be too hard.

The main reason that happens is using the wrong cleaner to clean the tint. You cant use windex or any other household cleaner, you need to use tint safe window cleaner. it will say on the bottle if it is tint safe.
