Hi Guys, I always try to do as much homework on my own as I can, does anyone know if this is the correct Dorman PCV Grommet for a Gen 2 Viper? I would like to have one on hand for the day I need to pull my intake and change my T-stat. Specifically for my 97 GTS

OE Number 5245322

Dorman Number 42064

if Anyone can confirm the fit and size of an original as they do look the same? Open both attachments to see…..

Chrysler Corporation has used exactly the same grommet for every car in their line since 1967. The ONLY difference for the Gen 2 is that it has a double-male barb pushed in from the backside. The Dorman part is good to go. They also make a replacement for the hose from there to the PCV valve. It may be too long, but that's just because in '98 Dodge did away with the standard valve and went with an orifice restrictor in the tee. Just cut the excess off.

Do you track your car at all, or just street drive?

Did the PCV grommet hole change in dimensions during the Gen 2 run?

I have my intake manifold off so figured I'd change the grommet as cheap insurance while I'm there. I bought the standard "fits every Chrysler since the beginning of time" grommet - NAPA 6301073 - and while it does fit the hole, it's a snug-but-loose fit. I can move the grommet around (back/forth) about 1/8'', and with just a little of force I can collapse it into the hole (that was fun to retrieve).

The one Viper Parts Depot sells is the same as the NAPA one.

My current grommet fits tight, absolutely no play, so the only thing I can think of is either dimensions changed along the way or the grommet starts as a loose fit then swells (but that doesn't make much sense since every pcv grommet i've ever used is a tight fit from the get-go)?
