hope this helps - i did mine and the hardest part was removing the pad
from the hood - but not difficult.
1) first you must disconnect ground wires from pad attach to car
2) remove plastic cover below wipers - lots of screws
* make sure to open doors and remove screws at that
area also
3) when removing cover from above make sure to remove wipers
* with chaulk or tape mark location of wipers before removing
4) make sure to have 2 people when removing pad from - so not to bend it
5) with one person holding pad in place use pliers to pull out pins
* the pins - plugs can be reused.
6) ok now you should have the pad removed
7) use regular masking tape and tape the outline of the entire logo and
cove the outside of the exposed pad not being painted *because of over
spray (this is important!)
8) TYPE OF PAINT - VHT (VERY HIGH TEMPERTURE) - USED FOR CALIPERS OR ENGINE
CAN BE FOUND AT SAVO'S OR PEP BOYS - ABOUT $5 A CAN
9) i did black as my raized area but first sprayed the entire logo black
5 COATS = one spray can with a little left
10) let dry for one day
11) using masking tape tape over raized area leaving first color covered -
this takes some time and patience ( use a hobby knife to trim area BUT
BE CAREFUL NOT TO CUT INTO THE PAD!!!!!!!
12) second color ready - i used aluminum engine paint - worked fine and matched
the manifold well
13) spray 5 coats again - almost entire can
14) let dry for one day then remove ONLY the tape inside the logo
15) paint the eyes - i used red enamul ( NOT HIGH TEMP PAINT - WHICH IS FINE )
16) let dry one day
17) now paint entire logo with VHT clear coat - min 5 coats (one can)
18) again let dry one day
19) remove the outside tape around the logo and remove all covering from
pad
20) IMPORTANT - DO NOT REMOVE COVERING FROM PAD UNTIL THE VERY END - DONT
WANT OVERSPRAY!!!!!!!!!!
21) NOW GAZE AT YOUR WORK OF ART AND BEAUTIFUL PAD
22) reinstall pad in reverse order from above
23) NOW TAKE A PIC AND POST IT
24) WAY TO GO YOU DID IT
THIS IS MY GIFT TO ALL MY VIPER BUDDY'S - GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS
