Re: how\'s the viper on long drives

Welcome!! Although I have not driven my 97 any notible distances, I did drive my 94 RT several 350 mile trips. The Gen I kinda beat me down on the trip, but I still enjoyed it!!

I know the Gen II will be much more civilized on long (and short) trips......Kurt

My wife and I have done up to 7 hour road trips in it. It's fine as long as you don't need a lot of luggage or can send the luggage ahead of you.

Drove home from St Louis at VOI6 and will be driving home from Nashville this year. No complaints at all. Love long drives, and if you have a GTS no luggage problem, just pack it up to the window.

No dead pedal is the primary problem. Eventually you will develope a number of driving positions to switch between.

No cruise is not that bad. It is fun to drive the Viper as opposed to let it cruise - however, the cruise would be nice for dead pedal relief.

There is supposed to be one cruise add on which is very OE looking.

I recently drove from Stockton, CA to San Diego, CA almost 500 miles. The car drove great!!!!! I only had to stop for gas one time (this really suprised me). I was in 6th gear most of the time (gas saving gear). Although I did give a show for a few on the freeway.

The car did great!! No problems!

I recently drove my new Viper from Blair, Nebraska (Bill Pemberton @ Woodhouse Dodge) to my home in Centerville, Ohio (just South of Dayton) - a 760+ mile trip in a single day following the Viper break in proceedure the entire way. I'm 6' 5" tall and the only problem I had/have is getting into and out of the Viper gracefully. I did do frequent rest stops partly because I still lacked leg room for my right leg to stretch out.

My Viper ran flawlessly the entire trip even though the outside temperature during the day was 92+ degrees. The air conditioning kept the inside air nice & cool. Late at night when the outside air had cooled down to where I could drive with the windows down and the air conditioning off was the best part, much more enjoyable than driving with the windows up. Love the sound of my exhaust - Belanger Headers, Random Tech Ultra High Flow Cats, and Corsa 3" Cat back with 4" tips - sounds much better with the windows down.
