Here is my idea.
The 4 or so major tuners that sponsor the board will provide a top of the line upgrade to the winner.

The winner would have there choice (if offered by tuner)
of "enhanced"(tt,supercharged, nitrous, etc.) or naturally inspired.Must be tuners top of line upgrade either way!

One raffle every 3 months with each tuner taking a turn.
1,000 tickets sold at $100 each
After tuner is paid all profits go to VCA!!!

This is a win-win-win situation; tuners get work, VCA gets $
and some lucky owner gets 600-800HP for $100!!!
So what does everyone think? Can the board and tuners make this happen??
Hope they can

Mes,
why do you think it would be illegal?
Organizations hold raffles all the time. For everything from a turkey to a new car.

I think the flaw here is that the tuner gets paid. Most raffles have prizes that are donated. I dunno. Maybe if the VCA bought the package and then raffled it away, you might have something, but I'm no legal eagle.

Well, I certainly can't answer on behalf of the VCA, but here is my opinion: It could probably be done legally in that the items are NOT donated. While DC is very generous with the VCA, if you think they donated the raffle cars, you are very wrong. The VCA buys them (and I don't know if they even get much of a discount) and then the raffle is held in the hopes it will exceed the cost and provide a profit, er, proceeds to the non-profit club. In the case of the "upgrade package", there may need to be a purchase made in advance. This would mean that you might not get a choice unless they bought 2-3 packages up front. Again, I really don't know for sure. The other legal hurdle might be that the work would be done elsewhere, such as Florida, Texas, etc. Would a certified Michigan raffle cover an out-of-state prize?

Sounds like a great idea! With no law background and no official standing in the VCA, I can only guess. And there you go!

O.K.

Call me a cheap ****, but 100 * 1,000 = $100,000 big ones. For me to consider purchasing a ticket, the mods would have to be $50,000 - $75,000K with the rest going to the VCA. Some $5,000 NO2 system would not get my interest, unless the price of the ticket was reduced. I think a better idea would be to base the number of tickets and the price of the tickets - on the cost of the mods. 50-75% of money collected going to mods, and 25-50% of remainder going to VCA. Sort of like a 50-50 raffle. Of course, there are many wealthy Viper owners that couldn't give a rats a** about parting with a measly $100 bucks - hopefully I'll be in that boat some day....

Good luck and Good idea

onerareviper,
My idea is for a top of the line mod $50k+ (600-800hp)
and the other half goes to VCA!!
i really hope that VCA considers this

I think i will be a big hit if we can get it off the ground!
now we need to hear from interested tuners! TNT, HENN,LPE,LEVIN,
ETC, sorry if i missed someone.

Here's the deal:

Raffles must be approved by the state where the club is incorporated (MI), and can in fact, used purchased goods as part of the prize.

There are a few issues with your idea:

1) It's not easy to sell 1000 tickets! Your VCA officers work very hard to market the existing raffles! and too many will dilute our plans which would be detrimental to all future raffles.

2) The date of the drawing is the date of the drawing! (If you don't sell enough tix to break even.... we're doomed!)

3) Liability! Raffle a production car? Sure, it's certified, bonafied, and authorized to be safe, and street legal given the rules of the DOT. .... Raffle an upgrade package, and risk future lawsuits (even from honest, enthusiastic VCA members), because of mechanical failure, damage, safety risks, or quality issues, etc.

As a VCA Regional Officer, does that make you one of the Chief Justices? ;)
