Hi Guys,

I have been searching for too long for the perfect 01 RT-10 and I have concluded I may never find it. So, I just called Nelson's Lamborghini and decided to buy one from the collection that Greg is selling. So, I am buying the 2001 Sapphire Blue/Cognac RT-10 with both tops for 71,000. The price included the 3,000 gas guzzlers tax. So, the car is brand new and never titled. Did I do okay?

Ron Frost is a super nice guy and...well, it's brand new!! That way, I know It's perfect and broken in according to my standards. Thanks all for helping me search for the car and also for helping me look over what seemed like 10 cars.

I will be sure to take some pictures. I am going to order a set of HRE 845R's in the 19/20 inch combo for my first mod and a set of springs. I can't wait till I become a VCA member and finally meet some of you at the events.....

Regards,
Danny Sottile

I didn't think the Gas guzzler tax was in effect anymore?! Check with other Viper dealers like Tator and Woodhouse to be sure. If it isn't, you're getting the shaft

I would say personally that you paid a little to much. I got mine a year ago new with a ehaust system, K40, and tinted windows all thrown in for $69,224 BUT that combo is very nice so it was worth it. :D

I also agree. You were looking for pristine and you ain't gonna find anything better than NEW. Deserves the extra premium. Money is secondary or tertiary when it comes to the best in cars (and women). Smart move.

Danny:

I too purchased a 98 GTS last Aug from Ron Frost at Nelson Auto Group. He went out of his way to please me and gave me what I thought was a fair/good deal. Did I pay too much?? Others may have felt I did, but I don't. This was the car I had been searching for for 2 years. (red w/silver stripes) less than 12,000 miles, and like new. I now see that Greg has a 98 Red w/silver stripes
GTS for sale also. Wonder what he is asking for it?? I drive mine. It won't sit as long as the weather is nice. I bet Greg wants a lot more for his than I paid for mine. Anyway hope to see you on the Central Ohio roads. As long as this is the car you want, don't worry about what you paid.

Congrats! When will you be driving it?

As for the price... for a NEW car I think you did real good for one of the most desired color combos.

Do you live somewhere where it's not raining (or snowing) right now? (Will you be able to "enjoy" it after the break-in period?)

Rons a Nice guy. I bought my 01 sapphire gts there from RK (I think that was his name). Best treatment I have every received when buying a car. May be a little high but if you like it and feel good about it, who cares.

Enjoy!

Hi Guys,

The 71k includes the gas guzzlers tax but not sales tax. Since Nelson's in Ohio, you can get fairly creative with the way you title the car and not pay the tax till you decide to flip it in your state. I live and work in Los Angeles, but my parents and all my cars are in Western Pennsylvania. I will have the car transported to Pa and drive it a little in the summer. I rarely get to drive my cars and most of the gratification comes from just knowing they are in my garage. I still have my first new car I bought when I was 18. It’s a 99 FRC Corvette still in the plastic with only 3 miles on the odometer.

Danny, that is too much money. I paid less for a brand new 02 rt/10. And it came w/ the 7/70K warranty.

Good luck!

it seems to me,that the point some people are missing here,is that if a person finds the exact car he wants, and he has the means to purchase it,then that is a good deal to him,no matter what anyone else thinks. i could have found another 96 blue white, but i would have not been a sastified with it ,as much as with the one i did buy. IMHO

Absolutely correct. What is too much money for one is a great deal to another, because its what he wanted. He missed the chance to buy the car new in 01,and here's the chance again.I would "overpay" for something I just have to have, most enthusiasts would.I just "overpaid" for an 88.5 yellow lambo. Why,because I have been looking for that particular car for 5 years.

Danny,
Congrats on the new Viper! As far as doing OK,,,I think you answered your own question. If you're happy with your purchase then it's worth what you paid for it....so yes, you did OK. Have fun! :2tu:

Danny:

You and I have the same car. You will love the color combination. Keep the finish clean and use some sort of polish with microfine scratch filler such as Sal Zaino's Z-5 and it will look smashing. also, use 100% American-made cotton towels (fieldcrest Cannon) to remove the polish so you don't get more scratches. Get some of his leather treatment - stuff has a killer great smell to it! You may already know this but thought it would be helpful advice just the same.

Look forward to your pics.
