I am going to take the battery out and take it down to swap for a new one. Do I need to anything special while it out? I didn't know if I needed to keep a power source to for the alarm or computer
Thanks, Rick
You'll be ok, but if your Viper runs like crap for a day don't worry about it. When the computer has power shut off for too long it has to "re-learn" driving habits. No lie.
Clean/repaint the battery tray, it's probably rusted and corroded. Simple fix.
Also, might want to look into buying an optima, cheap insurance. My 96 left me stranded once due to dead battery. Joe Blow can't jump start you with his honda, trust me.
I am buying the Optima. I see most people pick up the 75/35. I was at the distributor Friday and saw they had a SC34U. It is the same case size as the factory battery and little more amps than the 75/35. Still has tops post though. I talked to the manager and he said there are no plans for a side post only.
I think my biggest concern was the alarm. My alarm receiver will not go into the program mode and I only have one fob that works. Once that gone, I am done. And I don't know how you guys fix Optimas in there. I now know the SC34U wont go, because the top termials have a further setback than the 7535. That will put them dead on with the frame.
