As I say; I changed my water pump today. But more problems. I seem to be leaking coolant around the thermostat housing. Every time I run the car I get a pool of coolant on top of the block. And when I shut the car off it blows steam around the thermostat housing until the pressure is released.

I did a search. Seems to be that the cross over gasket around the thremostat will need to be changed.

DOES THIS MAKE SENSE?

Thanks.

Jeff,
From your plate I presume you have a 92? If so than the early cars 92,93 etc did like to puke the thermostat gasket or gaskets at crossover tubes. Either of these will be a real pain to get at. I had my crossover tube gaskets replaced a few years ago. Later that year the weeping heads got real bad and it went off to Arrow for a complete rebuild.

Rich- That is exactly what it seems to be doing, puking. At first I thought that was a function of burping the car, through the thermostat. When I checked the shop manual, it said there was a " Bleed Notch" in the thermostat. YES 92 RT10

I have never seen the coolant leak there. It seems to only blow coolant under pressure. When I shut the car down after it heats up it blows steam.

Heater only blows hot air when I first turn it on, then back to cold air. Makes me think that the thermostat is either stuck or there is air in the system.

Any advise would help.

Looks like I need to pressure test the system to see the coolant leaking.
