I destroyed a Hellcat

Today at approximately 12:30 pm, on my way to the QT to pick up some Hot Cheetos, I ran into a Hellcat at a stop light. I looked over and revved my Roe powered Viper to about 5500 rpm's, dumped the clutch, and burnt out for about five seconds in place. He started burning out too. Those damn things sound bad ass when that supercharger starts whining. The light turned green and he took off, burning rubber as he did so. There was no one ahead of us. I took off and feathered the clutch...totally avoiding any spinning. About midway through second gear I floored it, got a little bit of sideways action, shifted into third and started to pull away. When the speedo hit 130 I let up and was a good ten car lengths ahead. I came to a stop at the next light, expecting to chat a little with the guy, and he turned right without stopping or waving or $hit. Man what a ******.

Poor sport! Probably the first time he was beat. Molar guys have to stick together and enjoy those experiences...win or not.

First of all, I don't think he drove the car very well off the start. He was a little heavy on the pedal. Second, I'm pretty sure he backed off around a 120 mph. Pretty sure it was a manual.

The fellow you raced, as you stated, did not know how to launch. Plus stick Hellcats are a bit slower. The winner on this time slip is me. But, with that said, I do not race on the street.

I don't disagree with you. But certain opportunities require irresponsibility to achieve enjoyment.

My only regret is that it was the one time I didn't bring my GoPro. I was just gonna cruise real quick to QT and get some Hot Cheetos and come right back. Damn it...

Hope the Cheettos did not make your engine explode. Be carefull on public streets. Its not worth it...for bragging rights....:drive:

Way to go Free! Maybe next time try that on an open hwy or interstate.


Well, had I ran into the guy on the interstate I would have.....actually I wouldn't have because they are all under construction around here. It was a nice smooth 3 lane on the loop, about a mile and a half from one stop light to the next. I had the middle lane and he was to my right. The guy got smoked, end of story.

Good post Free. Think the Hellcat owner just couldn't put the power down. I own both. A Gen III and a Hellcat (Charger). Off the line the Hellcat (stock 275s) is damn near impossible to get to hook up. Launch control helps though. Just too much power. Let my brother take the Gen III (bone stock) out and we had a little fun in remote area....the Hellcat pulled steadily away from the Gen III (bone stock) from a punch at 60mph, then from 80mph up to (I'd rather not say). My friends with 305s on their hellcats are EASILY in the high 10s. The hellcat is an absolute ANIMAL. It seems to defy physics at 4500lbs. Love the Viper, but the countless destruction of Mustangs and Camaros at this point is priceless :)

Note: I am a family man (so never race with family in the car) and usually just mind my own business. I have noticed in a white charger I could semi-blend in and mind my own business. Over the past year though as the Hellcat becomes more popular/"known" I can't meet up or hit a red light without people wanting some action. (Need to debadge:) The worst is the Cadillac (2 door) SPEC-V. EVERYTIME I meet up with these drivers, they want to go... :)

Part of the reason for the Hellcat's superiority is that the supercharger and intercooler system used by the Hellcat are superior in addition to the higher HP for the Hellcat. The Hellcat engine may be the finest OEM mass produced performance engine ever made. It is an incredible piece of engineering. The eight speed performance tranny ain't no slouch either.

So how do the Caddys stack up to the Hellcat.

Thanks Bob! Yes, the 8 speed (in paddle shift + track mode) is absolutely amazing. I did get nailed (in the Viper though) by one of those 2 door spec-v caddy's. It was OBVIOUSLY heavily modified b/c A) he literally did a U-turn and chased me down and B) he walked me like I was standing still....Couldn't even catch up to him to give him a thumbs up....Must have been one of those 1000+hp caddy's :) Only thing I've seen accelerate like that caddy was my friends McLaren.

The sound of those Hellcat's whining is music to my ears I'll tell you that much.
