Well I guess it wasn't all the way thru but...........
I was working to get my new Roe fascia kit on. This kit is made to get more air in the radiator at high speeds. I really was close to being done but I needed a helper to hold some parts I was drilling the pilot holes for the rivets. Instead of doing something smart (like calling a friend to help me) I had my wife hold the parts. We did fine the first couple of times (although I nicked her finger once) but really it was a bonding experience. Then, well, everything went bad:
I had my wife hold a piece I was getting ready to drill. In my defense I told her exactly where the drill bit was going to pop up thru the metal. The problem was I didn't check where her hand was before I drilled. I start drilling the pilot hole go thru the metal and the bit goes directly right in the middle of her thumb. My heart sank. She gets up screaming, crying holding her hand in pain. She then runs in the door. I run after her. After a couple of minutes I finally get her to show me her hand. I felt SO BAD. There was a perfect 3/16 hole right in the middle of her thumb. It looked like a piece of bone or something was on top of her thumb. I wanted to drill a hole in my head, I just couldn't stand myself. I started pleading with her how sorry I was. My wife as good of a person she is (still crying) said "It wasn't your fault you told me where the drill bit was going." I still couldn't believe myself and my stupidity.
After about 30 min I finally got her to go to the hospital. We got to Olathe Med and they saw us rather quickly. After the x-rays and the doctors evaluation it turns out I nicked her bone. (Bad but nothing serious) And she just needs to keep it clean and in a splint. She got something for the pain and she is doing fine now.
Afterwards she said "I am sorry you didn't get your car done today"….”I know you really wanted to get it done”
How did a dumb a$$ like me get so lucky? I love my wife.
