HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL yaaaaaaaaaaaa! No more dust! I couldn't believe it! I love those things. I dreaded driving my viper because the dang wheels would be covered in dust in less than 1 mile. I got the EBC greens from Jon B at the famous parts rack, and they were worth the money!

I put them on and started up my car and backed up. I scared the crap out of myself because I forgot to press the brakes to get them to intially make them contact the rotors. Well, when I backed up..I didn't stop when I applied the brakes. Yikes! I realized what i did and went upstairs to change my underwear. EBC are the best! But I painted mine black. I didn't want to look like the ricers with multi colored stuff on my car.

Love the lack of dust from the EBCs as well. I also painted them black -- well, OK, Ted May @ Valaya Racing painted them, and I'm glad he did.

My only complaint is they squeal under medium braking (not light, not hard). Seems to be coming from the rears. I may pull them back off and apply some of that "squeal stop" stuff to try and calm them down.

Ben, the EBC Greens should not squeak...... AT ALL! You have some kind of minor installation issue going on there, that will eventually take care of itself as the pads wear in. But, if you do want to take the rear wheels off to do something proactive, just give the rotors a bit more scuffing as suggested. I don't recommend the use of any aftermarket "brake quiet" product on the EBC's. Enjoy!

WK -- we did scuff all four rotors thoroughly during installation, but I will try your suggestion and give the rears another once-over. What grit do you recommend?

The reason why you have to scuff the rotors is that the resin on your previous pads don't work well with the EBC greens. So you have to scrape off that resin with sand paper. I have no squeal at all. In fact they are quieter than my stock brake pads. I would use the courses paper out there.

so looking forward to clean wheels. are the pads really that noticeable that they need to be painted?

thanks

Did you powdercoat the pads (if not what did you guys use for paint?) and did you do rear brakes also?

I too switched to green pads last sumer but mine still squeek. Since the car is coming out of trailer prison this weekend, I would like to know what I might do to help this issue. Thanks!

, you think silver shows brake dust. My white '96 is horrible, especially with white wheels. I have been debating the greens but I think it's a no brainer after reading these posts.

I now have about 500 miles on the Green Pads and this is the best thing I have ever done....When I purchased my Big Brake StopTech System from JonB we added the Green Pads for the street and I put the other ones away for the track. I am thinking about taking my Fiske's off now and polishing the backside of the rims cause now there is a reason to, they will stay clean!

My squeaking problems have gone away also with the new StopTech System.

Use an air gun if you have one to get all the old brake dust out. Make sure you wear a mask and fan to blow out the dust outside. I used non-clorinated brake cleaner and the 125psi air gun and whalla! Clean everything!!!

Like the post above says....scuff the rotors really good! Get rid of any old resin build up.

Yep Silver cars show black dust the worst i think.
