I've been reading the forum pages for quite a while and have always enjoyed hearing about people finally purchasing their first Viper. I guess it's my turn now - I pulled the trigger on a nice '98 GTS last week. I'll post a link rather than list the details:

Photo Gallery

It's a done deal but the car has not been delivered. I think my kids are more excited than I am. I closed the deal before I told my wife - anyone else try that before? I'm sure the wounds will heal when the car is delivered. I'm having a lot of trouble sleeping at night waiting for the car to get here. I also feel very fortunate to be only a short drive from Woodhouse - there may be a ROE SC in my future.
I have learned a lot from everyone here and would like to say thankyou for the enthusiasm and information. I look forward to being one of the gang.:2tu:

Just so you dont feel bad, I told my wife about the car when it got delivered down the street from my home, about 10 minutes before it pulled in the driveway, lol, we're still married!!!

Hey Lee, that car was in the middle of the premier showroom gathering this weekend, the car will please you greatly. It has lots of mods and has the best clear coat I have ever seen. just wait till you get it. I'm sure others at the premier gathering will agree with what I said.
congrats on a beauty:2tu:
oh by the way there was a young couple in a yellow GTS from Omaha at the Premier event . I'm sure his wife could have driven it up to you on their way home. lol...so when are they delivering the car?

When are they delivering the car? That's a good question - winter is coming quickly and I have a lot of driving to do. I am hoping to have it by the end of the week. If not, I may fly down and drive it back. Seven hours may be a long drive in the Viper though.
I am very happy with the degree of modification on this car - not too much, not too little.
Thanks for the feedback

Hi Bob No, I worked with Dick Courtney. He seems like a good guy. I may have given in a little early on price but I've been shopping for quite a while and this car just seemed right.

There must be Viper fever in Nebraska - Fursty is the third guy I've talked to around here who has bought a Viper this last month.

:D

I drove mine home almost 4 hours yesterday and it wasn't bad. It was nice to spend some quality time with her.

My wife found out when the truck pulled up and unloaded it in our driveway. hahahaha

Congratulations and welcome!

Make sure and check out the KC region area-in the kodak picture link from Vipergirl may be a snapshot of your car..take a look.

Too bad you were not picking it up today and stopping in KC. We have a monthly Viper meeting tonight at 7 and would love to have you attend. The weather is gorgeous so my guess is there will be more than a few Vipers in the parking lot.

Let us know when it arrives and drive safe!

Venomis - Thanks for the referral. The pictures are awesome. I caught a few peices of the car I bought but I was more interested in the great variety of Vipers at the Rally. Everyone looks like they had a great time - we look forward to being a part of it someday. I enjoyed the vanity plates too - I have plates on my motorhome that say "cuznedy" but I'm never sure if anyone understands the reference to Christmas Vacation.
It looks like my car may smell like fried chicken when it arrives!!

Early93viper - I knew I was destined to own a Viper when you posted the video and had "Scotty Doesn't Know" as the soundtrack.
That song and I have a long history together:cool:
Eurotrip is one of our "must watch" movies during guy trips in the motorhome.

Very nice. Premier handles some very nice cars.

I bought a 96 GTS in Detroit a month ago and flew up their and drove it almost 1,075 miles back to Jacksonville, FL.

This was my second Viper (I also have a 94) and I bought it on e-Bay without my wife's knowledge when she was out of town. I was at dinner with my neighbors when my wife called and I told her I had bought the car. The neighbor asked what she said? I told him she said "Oh good, you have always wanted a blue and white GTS". The neighbor said my wife was awesome! I think he has a $100 limit without approval.

Well it's day two and things are going as well as can be expected at home. Today I received a long christmas wish/demand list from my wife. She is very happy about the car and even more excited about the goodies it entitles her to. I didn't know buying a ten year old car would be so expensive.
I am sleeping better since I found out who the previous owner was but I still have not received the car. It's been +-70 degrees and sunny for over a week and I'm going to the car show tonight in a 1966 Chevy II. The nice days are going to end soon and the Viper would have been a much sexier ride to the show.

That's just awful that your wife is not as excited about the car as you are...it's for HER too~! To heck with goodies, she's GOT the goods...YOU, your kids and a VIPER~! MAN, we are SO into cars here, it's a GIFT to be able to ENJOY them, ya know? Enjoy your '66 Chevy tonite at the show, as you said, time is limited now into the Fall...then the dreaded WINTER! Do you have your VIN#? If so, private message it to Kcobean, and he'll upgrade you to VIPER OWNER! Put it in your profile, NO one else can see it but the moderators (one of them being LEE00blacksilvergts...lol...you probably WILL get pm's asking for things meant for the moderator as LEE said below, if you do, just 'forward' them to him!), no problem~! ENJOY and congrats! WELCOME to the MADNESS~!!! ~juli

I'm just havin' fun - she is very excited about the car. She's probably happier for me because I've been looking for a Viper for several years and was not able to find the right car. I received more pictures tonight from the previous owner and it is a great looking car with all of the right tweeks.
There were some people at the car show tonight who had been at the Premier event last weekend and they said they had the best time since they bought their Viper.

Lee: I'm glad all is working out for ya~! Yeah, we all DREAMED of someday owning one of these RAW BRUTES...and to do so, it's really a dream come true. I can just open the door and LOOK at the Viper and just *sigh*, it's actually helped me thru some tough times...weirdly, huh?!!! ENJOY!

Let me add to the congratulations!! I personally think you could have not found a better lookin car unless it was a Blue & Silver SRT-10, but that's my own opinion. Was a real tough decision to give up and I may regret it someday. Forgot to mention that all the wheel well bolts/screws were replaced with stainless steel. Gives it that "Clean" look!! Make sure you join the VCA and stay in touch!

Congratulations Lee and welcome! You definitely need to join the VCA because the Viper is an amazing car but the club really puts the icing on the cake!! Trust me! We have so much fun hanging out with all our club buddies and have really enjoyed our car so much more when we cruise down the road with other Vipers cruising along with us! That's such an amazing feeling! And since your in Nebraska- then you'd fit right in with our Kansas City club! We are a very active club and have lots on the calendar that you could participate in- we even have our annual holiday dinner party/auction coming up which would be a great way for you and your wife to come down and get to know some of us! We'd love to have you!

P.S. I'm the one that took all those photos at Premier last weekend and your car is BEAUTIFUL just like the photos show! Hopefully next year you'll be at that Premier Viper event with us!! :2tu:
