Today I went for a cruise trough the mountains alone. When I was approaching a big down hill several motorcycles signaled that there is a cop. My V1 was not picking them up till I got closer. None of the cars that I passed signaled but every single bike did. I don't know why people don't signal any more. I always do and once even got a ticket for it.

What is the signal for a cop? Guess I have never seen it nor given it.

usually high beams so cars coming the opposite directions see u. atleast thats what i do..not sure if its right

This is very popular in Europe as there is a lot more roads where you can see oncoming traffic. By flashing your hi-beams or signaling with your hand to slow down (on motorcycle)

Yeah, we flash high beams over here as a warning, there are some people that don't bother though. Mobile cop lazar (instant on) units are being used a lot over here now, they hide them and operate out the back of cars, ticket with points and fine arrives 2 weeks later via the post! They run it as a business, ie self funding their operation, it's not in the interest of road safety at all, although they like to claim it is.

True that in Europe people warn each other.
See that a lot happening around here in Austria.
Indeed very sneaky police tactics in Europe. Also lots of cameras along the roads. Another form of taxes, I guess.
Luckily this country does not have a points system nor insurance implications.

At least in the US cops need to pull ya over and work for their money.
And boy - did I give them a workout when they tried to pull me over when I was on my R1
Anybody ever wonders why all the car chases shown on 'cops' involve cars ? Cause they can't catch the bikes
