Nope, not wrong at all. Look at autotraderonline.com, ebay, or various dealer web sites. You'll find VINs all over the place. It's not like it's private info protected by the Patriot Act...

In any event, I'd be most grateful to anyone with a CARFAX account to help me out.

Actually, the Carfax people monitor this site and others. Carfax now goes after the forum organizers as well as the individual. It is a big no-no. Most car forums have stopped posts like this.

remove the vin from your post.

If carfax finds this, the next person to run that VIN will have their account suspended. I was told that they're doing that now..

In this case its too late but the next time post that a Carfax is needed and then E mail the VIN number.
