I think we\'re crazy - Carolinas Members to run 8 hour enduro.....
Blaming this on a wild hair, three Carolinas Region members have decided to run the First Annual "Charge of the Headlight Brigade" an 8 hour endurance race sponsored by the NC SCCA at Virginia International Raceway. The race starts at 2 PM on Saturday , June 14th and will complete at 10 PM.
We're expecting to have to do a couple of tire changes and at least one front brake pad change.
Our initial intent was to run the new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires to get some real world viper data, but unfortunately, Michelin's marketing budget for the Sport Cup has all but been exhausted. So, Bobby Archer Motorsports has come on as an associate sponsor and agreed to help us with tire expenses (Hoosiers) We still figure we're going to need about three sets (at $1200 each - yikes) We'll have to conserve brakes and fuel, since we'll go through more than our fair share, and we'll be stopping way more than the ITS class cars.
We have the beginnings of a pit crew lined up and some Carolinas Region members have pledged moral support! (We're gonna need it!) We know we have a lot to learn, but what the heck - it ought to be a blast. And it's the NC SCCA's first time at this too, so my guess is we won't be hte only rookies there.
We have a small sponsor that is just about covering our entry fee, but are eager to solicit more !
Any help would be appreciated - heck, you can sponsor a tire at a time! Will provide graphics for the race car and pics back to you for your company. We expect to be the only Viper there racing, and the cars are always a crowd favorite.
Thanks- and we'll keep you posted on the event!
