I\'m going to shoot 2 people.

Yep, thats right. Just 2..
First one - the dodge engineer who thought it would be a good idea to put the coil packs in the back of the motor under the water pump hoses.

The second one - The owner or Dodge tech who decided NOT to use enough/any anti-seize compound on the plugs.

3 hours, and I have 5 done (looks to be the hardest 5 though, passenger side). Needless to say, i'll be replacing my hoses in the back (needed to anyway).

Boy oh boy I feel really bad for you it is actually a quite simple job and you are encountering so many problems. I bet you would have spent the money and had a tech do the job by now. Hope it all comes out well for you.

Dude! It's not that hard. Once you remove the wipers, the supports for cowl and the cowl itself, it's not that bad!!! One thing helped me was I had to remove a windshield wiper motor or two to get even better reach......

Have you tried jacking the front end up so bending over won't be that bad of a deal??

Never had a problem with my 88 L98. Remove the inner fender and go in with a long extension and swivel socket. Now the DS rearmost plug on the C5, NOT... F bodies gotta be even worst (engine under dash).

You MIGHT consider Sean Roe's silastic hose kit...and make this your last hose change. Info offer still holds.

MadMaxx...You must be really mad now eh!! Are the spark plugs difficult to unscrew (meaning, they require more than the expected torque?) DO you think they are damaging the threads of
the heads?

I don't think he was replacing the plugs.. Just the wires and was having trouble with the Dodge Daytona Coils in the rear of the engine under the windsheild cowl..

You have no idea. I got so fed up with my Z28 that I just gave up and sold the car. Traded it in for my Impala which was so much easier....NOT!... I still haven't figured out how to switch the wires and the dealership wants $270 for it and thats not including the plugs.

Re: I\'m going to shoot 2 people.

For the record, I am doing plug wires and plugs. Plugs were OK for the most part, just that someone didn't put enough compound on the plugs (but they came off w/o damage to the threads). The wires were the biggest problem. cowl and everything came off within 2 minutes, but I just couldn't get my hands down in there. When I saw that my coolant was in dire need of changing, I ecided to remove the rear hoses and the twho hard pipes to the water pump. The hoses are original, and were bacsily welded to the water pump (which had some corrosion on it). Just the PITA of struggling w/ old rubber hoses

If I can actualy have some time (always busy at night these days) I will actualy finish!!!

This sucker better run like a bat out of hell when i'm done!

Re: I\'m going to shoot 2 people.

Bonkers: Headers help greatly on the LT1s.
Here's a tip for plug removal: get a cheap plug socket (china brand) with squarted off sides for use w/ a wrench for like 2 bucks. Cut about a half inch off the socket part, and drill out the square hole to accomidate the spark plug's long part. The back of the plug should stick out through the socket when it's inserted over it, but the foam will grab the plug enough to hold it. This gives you a 1 1/2" socket to get in those tight areas. Put the socket on by hand, then use a wrench to turn it loose, then remove by hand.

I got to where I could change the plugs in my LT4 in about 45 minutes using that thing, no other way to do it! The blower I ran liked to eat plugs every 1K miles or so
