Well, from NC to IL to CA now... I'm starting the process of getting my stuff together to move, and right now, I'd rather sell someone some of my excess tires/wheels then pack 'em and take em with me to cali.

Anways, I have a set of 345 BFGs on 18 inch SSR rims in REALLY good condition. $1000 shipped. (buy the rims, get the tires for free basically)

Also have a set of ps2 REARs 335/30/18s... they have at MOST 1000 miles on them. (I had 2 sets of rims and tires, and these got used for about a week.

Also I still have an SSR front rim, brand new, never mounted, still in box for $400, i pay ship.

Also have some old hockey puck 335 ps1s someone can just have, tons of tread, but old. (not really a good idea to use these other then as an emergency spare, which is why i have them).

Here is a link to the classified ad: ViperClub Classifieds - SSRs and PS2s and BFGs and Hoosiers FOR SALE - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds

I think thats it.

What part Cali are you moving to? If you're coming up north, I'll be the first to buy you a beer. :)

Yep, after this last brutal winter, where I got to drive the viper... like NEVER.. I said F this.. and put my resume on the net, and in short order, I got 2 job offers in cali... lol... sweeeet..

NC was great for year round driving.. and now Cali should be even better.

I'm going to the Bay area (I'm an IT Guy)!! I start work on the 21st and I'm taking the viper cross country so I have a car to drive when I get there. It'll be a few months before I fully move all my stuff and sell my place in chicago.

Anyone want to let me crash @ their place for a day or two, while I do some appartment shoping for a short term 6 month rental? ;) I dont know crap about the area yet, so buying a house I think would be stupid, so I'll get an appartment and house hunt on the weekends. But now I have to spend a day or two checking out appartments.. grrr... the only down side to moving... the moving part.. lol.

If anyone knows some great places to rent for 6 months, in the bay area, around Santa Clara.. please let me know.

You ******, there goes my Chicago connection :D

I grew up in the bay area, but only been back to visit for the last 20 years or so. Completely over populated. Nice year around driving though and Hwy 1 is a real nice drive, congrats! :2tu:

Sweet... bay area here as well... so is mike. You'll like it here other than the usual hippie freaks. We should all meet up when you get here.

If you are into tracking your car, you will be within an hour and half drive of two great tracks, Laguna Seca and Infineon Raceway(Sears Point). A 3 hour drive North will get you to ThunderHill or South to Buttonwillow. If want to go east 4 hours, you pass thru Reno Nevada to a new track, Reno/Fernley. All great places to exercise you ride.
All that plus you become a NorCal Viper Club member.

Welcome!

FYI REAR ps2's are sold (pending paypal payment)

and Hoosier VRLs are sold too (pending paypal deposit).

That leaves 1 brand new front SSR 18 inch rim, and 2 SSR Rear 18 inch rims with BFGs.

Thanks everyone!!

I guess thats good news for me then. I wonder if I should buy right away, or get a rental and just enjoy the lower cost of living?

right now I own a condo in chicago, and I'll be selling it, and I should be ok, and make a few bucks off it... But is it wise to then turn right back around and buy a nice place in Santa Clara/San Jose/Cupertino, etc ??

I start work on the 21st of this month, so I gotta get moving soon. I still have no idea where I am going to stay yet.. lol..

Santa Clara, San Jose, Cupertino is a lot of area to choose from(over 1.5 million people). Those areas vary alot as far as cost and neighborhoods. Condos and Townhouses start at $400- $500K. I believe that right now is a good time to buy. I have experianced 3 housing corrections since i moved here and once the brakes come of the prices go up quickly. Generally any time you can get into home in the bay area, it is a good thing. I stretched to get my current house 8 years ago and even with the present correction it is worth 2.5 times more than I paid for it.

Having said that, many of my coworkers that have come from back east or Europe, rent for the 1st 6 months to get a feeling for the area and to give them time to hunt for a place without pressure.

Sorry I can't offer you a place to crash. I can pm you with some realtors info if you wish.

I work in San Jose/Santa Clara Border. There are a million apartments. It would be smart to rent first. Im sure you will want a garage, there are lots of condos with one car garages. Your going to love it here. There are alot of nice areas, few not so good areas. Alamaden Valley area is very nice and 20 minutes from Santa Clara.
A nice cruise over windy hwy 17 gets you to the beach in 30 minutes, hwy 9 has lots of twisties for a nice mountain drive. Santana Row is kinda like a rodeo drive strip, outdoor shopping and eating, porsches, ferraris and Lambos everywhere. You'll have to come to our weekly meet on Saturday mornings, usually 50+ cars, mostly hi end and exotics. You wont miss home at all.:2tu:

Very much appeciate the information. Sounds like the smart bet is to do a 6 month MAX lease, and learn the area (and my new job) and then settle on an area we really like and buy a place there.

And yes, a 1 car garage is a must for the condo, to house the viper. Sadly I also have a srt8 Jeep, and I'm also found of protecting it too.... Anyone able to store a viper in one of their massive estate home garages ;-) ??

And I am CERTAINLY I wont miss Chicago at all, so thats not even a concern :)

Can't wait to get there, and I'll certainly join the locals as soon as I do.

Bypass the condo and look at some houses, you'll do better in the end. Generally they come with at least a 2 car garage too :2tu:

I vote house as well. Condos don't come with single car garages... you'll have to park in a lot... some outdoors, and every idiot that shares the building with you has access to your car.

99 Rt/10... wow, you giving sound advice.. who would have thought ;-)

CRAP, Warfang (and 99 rt/10)... I totally agree with you guys actually... but the problem is, how/where do I live for the month of searching and probably the 1 month until closing. Its why I thought I would do a 6 month lease (because thats mostly all the appartment/condos will do for a short term is 6 months).

And actually, i already know of 1 condo that gives you a 1 car garage, but sadly, the 08 Jeep would still be forced to park outside with the common parking :( .. so I'm still not happy with that.

Maybe you can rent a small house for a short period. They have a lot of small town houses that come with 2-car garages.
