I think maybe many body panels were already painted for 2008 and never
sold so the best way not to destroy them and lose $$$$$$$$$$ would be
to offer the same color for 2009.

THIS IS THE BEST ANSWER I COULD COME UP WITH!

I could be wrong but what other answer is there ? :dunno:

VENOM RED DID NOT SELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe your right, maybe your wrong, but who cares they are still building Vipers. Why didn't you buy a 08 SSG? I am sure many venom red owners think their color is the best.
No need to continually bring this up.

Venom Red Resale is very soft for sure.. There seems to be a $5k difference between this, and any other color out there..

Personally, I like the venom red when it is set off by silver stripes. Of course I just bought a SSG car, so I have to admit the venom red would be my third choice for color....

I absolutely hated Venon Red in pictures. Saw a brand new one on our last run and in the sunlight with Silver Stripes, it was nothing short of amazing. If I was looking and on a budget, I would not hesitate to buy one at $15K less than the other colors. Same car underneath. For some reason it does not photograph well.

The pictures do not do it justice. It was a young gentlemen in our group who bought a brand new one. He just got back from Iraq after 17 months on the front line. He and his troop all picked the options, etc. and he ordered it from over there ready for his arrival. He has put on about 6,000 miles over the last three months driving the car all over the US. GOOD FOR HIM. After going through what he went through, I would too.

I'm lost as to the point of your post. Nonetheless, in an effort to assuage your concern, please don't by an '09 in this color.

There, feel better now? ;)

u can tell the economy is down , everyone is a bit edgy

You're probably right. My apologies to Wanted if I was "edgy" (and to Music for my mis-spelling :D).

But this type of "negative" post is simply unnecessary, IMO. We've got such a ridiculously good relationship with the SRT team, what's the real point of publicly complaining about an available Viper color? This is not even about a color that's NOT available...it's about a color that IS available!

I'd just suggest that we all well consider any "manufacturer negative" posts before we make them public on this forum. We ask SO much of the SRT group and they listen. Think about what your response might be if you were in their place reading such a complaint.

Anyway, as usual, I've probably made far more of this than is appropriate, so I'll just go have a beer and call it a day. :)

i was also disappointed to see the venom red offered for 09 BUT only because i want the viper to survive and dealers to be able to sell cars....whether or not the venom red affects 09 sales i have no facts to say it will have a negative impact , i'm just reacting to what i read on here.....

As a whole i think the 08 colors were a hit and hopefully 09 will be the same

Destroy Them? False Premise = False Conclusion.

Do you think they just paint panels in some whimsical, *****-nilly manner?

Painting panels for CAAP has long been "Just in time" to meet D-status Vin needs, as SCHEDULED for CAAP build. And a FEW for I-status replacement needs.
ie, they only paint panels for the cars being built! So, no gross-miscalculation of Venom Red (or any other) needs resulted in any volume surplus as you opine.........

I thought this was one of the best colors, especially with stripes! In my book, it's up there with Violet and SSG. But there's quite a few who don't like those colors either. To each his own, I guess.

Loved my venom red w/ white stripes - car looks much better in person than pictures - in the sunlight it did show well in pictures as well - bought it almost $14k off MSRP and could not have been happier - won a local car show w/ my son - very cool

how about this scenario?

before the 08's were produced and the color was seen, alot of people pre-order an 08 venom red thinking it was a different color than it actually turned out to be? when the cars finally get delivered and those individuals get to see the color in person, "XX" number of those people back out (for whatever reason), and instead buy a different color. maybe they didnt like the color when they saw it in person? maybe they saw a different color they liked better and switched?

meanwhile, dodge sees all the orders for venom red, thinks the color is popular, and decides to run with it again in 09. by the time they see what is going on, its too late to change their decision.

?????

i like the color, especially with white stripes, and it looks great in the sunlight. my favorite color is still purple though. :D

Venom Red is A Darker almost Burgundy Red. You can see it contrasted with Ferrari red in a picture below.

To the OP: what do you care?

The VR is probably the best color for someone on a budget. They can be had for considerably less than MSRP...some dealers have them for $ 70k...who would not want to buy a brand new Viper for that price? If I were to buy an 08' I would definitely consider one.

Silver stripes look terrific on it.

It does look good with the silver stipes, but I'm also liking the white stripes on dwhitts avatar and think it looks stunning.

Well, years back we were shopping for a 2003 vert and when we asked about color choices, the salesman said "you have red, black and silver, that's it." I think in the past, when color choices were very limited, red was a more preferred color. I like the RT/10 in Viper Red alot, which is why I bought it.

I will tell you, with the recent change to a wide color palet and some really cool colors, I don't think I would buy a new one in red either. Worse yet, I don't even think it would be my third choice.

But, all that said, I was recently at an event and one of our NY/CT members had a red vert with newly painted silver stripes. My wife and I both thought the car looked awesome. He also has some great wheels.

Ahhh, life goes on!

Peter
