In most states it is the law that slower drivers are to move to the right to allow faster drivers to overtake them (even Michigan, Tom). But that law is seldom enforced -- what usually gets enforced is a ticket for road rage because a driver gets so frustrated with the idiot in front of them that feels they "have the right" to poke along in the slow lane.

If you've ever had a chance to drive on the Autobahn, you'll appreciate how well traffic can flow when drivers yield to faster drivers. The cops enforce the pull over rules there and trucks are relegated to the right lanes. Of course having a Lambo come screaming up behind you flashing his lights will motivate you also!

We'd all save gas if the simple pull over to the right rule was enforced!! Let's get it on the Presidential platforms.

Unfortunately, the laws don't help. Here in Ct, it's legal to pass on the right on highways w/ 3 or more lanes, and THAT does nothing to help lane discipline.
