I am brand new to the Viper Club and Viper ownership. I bought my 2001 Viper GTS during the winter, and am enjoying every second I get to drive it. Here is my first question to forum, and please pardon my ignorance...

The floor mat on the driver side is all bunched up. Everytime I put it back in place the mat crunches up again under the clutch.

What I noticed is that the mat does not have a cut-out for the trunk release. I have looked for mats with cut-outs and only found a set at theviperstore.com, and they are sold out.

Does anyone have a recommendation where to get a good set of mats with the cut-out, and WON'T bunch up under the clutch.

Thank you, my Viper brethern.

Obsidian, Greetings from Moorestown, NJ....Welcome!!!!

I use the snake Oyl mats in my 2001 and they work great. The bottom is a tacky/foam material. I have NEVER had the mat move at all... I think the factory ones use a clip to hold them in place. You can order them from Chuck Tator @ tatorsdodge.com.

Hey Obsidian, welcome to the VCA. I see you know where to go for helpful info---this
place is a virtual cornucopia of useful and helpful info. I, like taximan, have the snake oyl
mats (mine are tapestry) and find them to stay in place quite nicely. I also have a set of
Lloyd's mats, but they slide to much for me. Snake oyl is one of the sponsors of this web
site and can be linked by clicking on "marketplace" at the top of this page. LOL.

Thanks for the help gents. Snake-oyl sounds great. I also read in the other thread that the us-speed stuff is good.

Taximan - I assume you are rarely in North Jersey. But based upon the name "Taximan" I am assuming a yellow Viper with black stripes. The only Viper i have seen driving up here this year so far was the bumblebee viper. Maybe it was you. Regardless it is a bad *ss looking car.

I bought US Speed floor mats. They are much bigger and fit much better than stock. Does anyone use the holding screws that come with the US Speed mats?

floor mats would work and not bunch-up if there was more factory holders to keep them from slipping. Any idea where an upholster can find the factory holders???

I just bought the Snake Oyl mats for mine and love them. I have not driven the car yet with them in it so I cannot say if it is a cure for them bunching up but I will let you know as soon as the weather clears up and I get it out. They do come with optional hooks that screw into your stock carpet but I am hoping to get away without using these since it says they are optional as I really do not want to put holes in my stock carpets if I do not have too. Although I am guessing that you probably wouldn't see these holes anyway.

I also looked at the tapestry mats which looked awesome but I could not justify the cost of them since I could carpet one of my bedrooms with top quality carpets for the same price. Although I am sure they are beautiful and probably worth it but my mats don't seem to last more than 2000 miles in my corvette which I barely drive, for this reason I will never buy Lloyds mats again. :crazy2:

I have had them all and tried every trick in the book to make my floor mats stay put on my Gen I and Gen II. I clamped/clipped them , screwed them down , velcrow , and double sided tape... I even had alum. riveted to the backside of stock floor mats and they ALL moved around. Snake Oyl mats are the way to go , they are almost too big to fit and since they take up the whole footwell they refuse to move........... Look good also and safer....more than one Viper has crashed due to floor mats hanging up the go pedal............http://www.snakeoylproducts.com/home.php?cat=322

I have had my US Speed mats for a few weeks now. They are sticking in place perfectly and I didn't tie them down. They are oversized, so they fit in tightly, but perfectly.

Thanks for the recommendations gents (and ladies), the mats I got are perfect!
